Bridebook is a revolutionary wedding planning platform that seeks to make wedding planning an enjoyable, intuitive, and rewarding experience for couples, guests, and industry partners. Launched in the UK, Bridebook has over 1,000,000 planning couples and has been featured in major outlets such as the New York Times, the BBC, and the App Store. After seven years and many iterations later, we have 2 in 3 engaged UK couples and 1 in 3 engaged German couples using Bridebook, and have recently expanded into the French and Irish markets. What will I be doing?

As a Front-end Engineer you will drive the development of our scalable, cloud-based, next-generation wedding platform. You will work across our industry-leading product, developing tools and applications across both sides of the marketplace. You will be part of a highly experienced and motivated cross-functional team (engineering, product & design) who care about driving value for our users and delivering beautiful user experiences.

The web application is built in React/Typescript/Fela/NextJS and we practice agile software development.

A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, great communication and organisational skills, motivation to achieve results in an agile environment, eagerness to learn and, of course, a passion for innovation. We'd love to have you join us and build the systems, services and apps that will revolutionise the wedding industry.

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Translating user stories into functional applications and helping guide the product team in line with the current best-practice implementation.
• Working with the team and stakeholders to deliver great software with the right scope.
• Understanding the platforms and technologies in use and guiding future direction.
• Being the advocate for all things front-end, to ensure we have the best UX/UI to conquer the industry and consistently scale-up.
• Leading by example in areas of automated unit, integration, and acceptance tests to support the continuous integration pipelines.
• Coaching and developing members of the team to set, apply and maintain excellent standards of development.
• Supporting and troubleshooting system issues as needed.
• Writing well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices.
• Refining our collective ways of working in meaningful ways.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• 6+ years experience working with JavaScript, Typescript and React.
• Experience in building high-performance mobile-web applications.
• Strong relevant experience in developing interactive web-based applications, especially sophisticated mobile-first single-page applications, using modern frameworks, libraries and tools.
• Strong Experience in Typescript.
• An understanding of CSS best practices and familiarity with CSS in JS approach (Fela, Glamor, etc).
• An understanding and exposure to integrating REST API endpoints
• Experience in test automation using modern source control and continuous integration.
• Excellent communication skills, excellent English, solid work ethic and a strong desire to write efficient, scalable and clean code.
• Comprehensive experience of delivering in an Agile manner, particularly Scrum.
• Strong focus on software deliverability.
