PMO Analyst (Finance) at UK Research & Innovation, Remote/Swindon, 6 Months, £Contract Rate

Innovate UK is seeking an experienced PMO Analyst to support the governance, financial management and reporting of a complex IT portfolio valued at approximately £30m. This is a high-profile role within the IT Directorate, providing financial oversight, portfolio reporting, delivery assurance and governance support across a range of business-critical technology and digital programmes.

The successful candidate will bring strong PMO experience, excellent financial management capability and advanced Excel skills, with the ability to provide meaningful insight, maintain robust controls and support effective decision-making in a fast-paced delivery environment.

As a PMO Analyst (Finance), your main responsibilities will be:

• Support financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting across the IT portfolio.
• Maintain accurate financial records, including budgets, actuals, accruals and forecasts.
• Analyse portfolio performance and identify financial risks, opportunities and trends.
• Produce high-quality management information and portfolio reporting for senior stakeholders.
• Support governance processes, including board packs, reporting cycles, RAID management and assurance activities.
• Coordinate governance forums, actions, decisions and stakeholder communications.
• Provide support to senior leadership, including governance, planning and organisational coordination activities.
• Work closely with programme and delivery teams to track progress, risks, dependencies and resource requirements.
• Ensure compliance with project delivery standards, governance frameworks and financial controls.
• Support continuous improvement of PMO processes, reporting standards and financial management practices.

Essential:

• Proven PMO, project support or portfolio management experience within an IT, digital or technology environment.
• Strong financial management experience, including budgeting, forecasting, financial tracking and reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to develop financial models, dashboards and management reporting.
• Experience supporting governance activities and working with senior stakeholders in complex programmes.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills, with a good understanding of project delivery and governance frameworks.

Desirable:

• Experience supporting large-scale IT, digital transformation or multi-million-pound programme portfolios.
• Knowledge of Agile delivery environments and public sector governance or financial controls.
• Relevant professional qualification or training in PMO, project management, portfolio management or finance (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, P3O, part-qualified accountant
