Role Purpose
As a Senior Contract Manager, you will serve as a trusted advisor to Deloitte Consulting and engagement leadership on strategic contract matters. This role focuses on large-scale, high-risk, complex professional services engagements (often technology-focused) across the Public, Private, and Financial Services sectors.
You will be responsible for:
• Leading the end-to-end contract management lifecycle for major client engagements.
• Providing expert advice to engagement leadership and delivery teams on contractual risks, commercial matters, and innovative solutions.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for researching and resolving complex contract issues and disputes.
• Building and maintaining strong working relationships with Deloitte leadership and client commercial officials.
• Ensuring financial targets are met through commercial analysis, reporting, and identifying margin improvement and risk mitigation strategies.
• Collaborating with Legal/Risk Managers on negotiations, risk identification, and mitigation strategies.
• Supporting negotiations for new business (e.g., change orders, Scope of Works) and leading subcontracting activities, ensuring timely and appropriate contract adjustments.
• Developing and implementing contract management tools, templates, methods, and processes.
• Educating and training engagement teams and the wider business on key contractual requirements and commercial best practices.
Essential skills:
• Direct client facing contract management experience in complex, multi-million pound information technology (IT) consulting, IT outsourcing, and/or professional services projects
• Working directly with senior level executives and large engagement teams
• Strong commercial understanding of engagement deal economics and profitability levers
• Ability to evaluate risks associated with large professional services engagements
• Ability to articulate complex contractual details to wider project team and stakeholders
• Ability to review contract documents such as SoWs and CRs and provide redrafts and suggested wording to ensure that the obligations and commitments of both parties are clear, risks are understood and outcomes are achievable
• Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding, deadline-driven environment
• Proven ability to manage a demanding workload effectively
• Self-motivated and able to work autonomously
• Experience in a consulting partnership or a similar large entrepreneurial business setting
• A track record of forging relationships with client procurement, finance or legal teams
Desirable:
• Experience with contract negotiations and resolving contractual disputes
• Project Management experience on large scale consulting/professional services engagements.
