Konvergent are supporting a client who is going through a major operating model change. One of the key areas that has been identified in need of improvement in terms of capability is product management. Our initial review has identified key areas for improvement around product cataloguing, engagement with sales and engineering teams, roadmaps and the need to mature multiple aspects of the product and agile life cycle.

We are looking for someone who has a proven track record and tool kit to solve this problem. Ideally, you would have worked in the consultancy/turnaround space and can work at pace, whilst understanding that you will be working in a very collaborative environment, and changing too much too soon will not work.
Discovery and Foundations
- Discovery and report of the current situation, within the first two weeks of joining.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive product catalogue documenting all current solutions (internal CRM, third-party tech applications that are used, and new products)
- Establish product standards framework covering API guidelines, documentation templates, and architectural principles
- Define and publish product governance model and decision-making frameworks
Roadmap & Planning Capability
- Design and implement a standardised roadmap format all products and internal processes that require fixing
- Establish portfolio-level roadmap connecting Legacy evolution, new bids, and strategic initiatives
- Create a roadmap, communication and stakeholder engagement process
- Implement roadmap tracking and reporting mechanisms
Team Structure & Ways of Working
- Review product team structures to support effective delivery
- Refresh and standardise agile ceremonies across teams (sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews, stand-ups)
- Development of a more consistent product backlog framework
- Establish Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) standards
- Mature core product processes (discovery, delivery, continuous improvement)
Experience
- Product management of whole catalogue of products, both Legacy and new products are a result of bids
- Have worked with organisations that respond to government tenders
- Experience of retro fitting in foundational agile and product practices into brownfield product sites
- Experience with bespoke CRM systems (sold into clients) would be advantageous
- Experience of agile coaching across product teams
- Ideally, you would have worked in more social sectors such as health, employment advisory, skills and training etc
