Technical Lead, Real-Time Pricing Platform at Aligne Technologies Ltd, London Canary Wharf/Remote, £750-£900 per day

We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to guide a team of four to five developers through this expansion. You will own the technical design and delivery of the platform, write code alongside the team, and work closely with the quantitative analysts, product owner and business analysts to shape requirements. You will be accountable for delivering the agreed features.

Key responsibilities

Technical leadership

• Lead, guide and mentor a team of four to five developers, setting clear technical direction and engineering standards.

• Remain hands-on, designing, building and reviewing code for the most complex and critical parts of the platform.

• Own the technical design and architecture for evolving the pricing engine into a strategic, scalable solution across the business.

• Ensure the platform is reliable, performant and resilient in production, with appropriate monitoring and support.

Data sources and curve production

• Lead the onboarding of multiple new real-time and market data sources into the platform.

• Design robust, low-latency ingestion and processing of streaming data.

• Work with the quantitative analysts to implement curve-building logic and produce accurate, timely curves.

• Build in data quality checks, validation and transparency so users can trust the curves produced.

Requirements and collaboration

• Work with the quantitative analysts, product owner and business analysts to define, refine and prioritise requirements.

• Translate business and quantitative requirements into technical designs, estimates and delivery plans.

• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Agile delivery

• Take responsibility for delivering agreed features to the expected quality and timelines.

• Lead sprint planning, estimation and backlog refinement with the product owner.

• Own release planning and release management, including CI/CD pipelines and deployment on AWS.

• Drive continuous improvement in the team’s engineering and delivery practices.

Essential experience

• Proven experience as a hands-on technical lead or lead developer, leading a team of developers to deliver complex systems.

• Strong, in-depth C#/.NET development experience.

• Experience designing and building real-time, low-latency, event-driven and streaming systems.

• Experience designing, building and deploying solutions on AWS.

• Experience integrating multiple data sources and feeds into a single platform.

• Strong engineering practices, including source control, CI/CD, automated testing and code review.

• Experience of agile delivery, including sprint planning, estimation and release management.

• Excellent communication skills, with experience working closely with product owners, business analysts and technical specialists to shape requirements.

Desirable experience

• Knowledge of commodity or energy markets and forward curve pricing.

• Experience working with quantitative analysts and implementing quantitative models in production.

• Experience scaling a system from an initial solution into a strategic, enterprise-wide platform.

• Experience working in a trading environment.
