Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer at Calisen Asset Management, Wigan, 3-6 Months, £Contract Rate

Are you an experienced IAM professional looking for your next contract assignment?

We're looking for a hands-on Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer to join our Cyber Security team on an initial 3-month contract, with the potential to extend to 6 months, supporting critical identity and cyber security initiatives across Calisen.

This is an Inside IR35 engagement, offering the opportunity to deliver meaningful outcomes within a high-profile technology and security transformation programme.

This role will suit someone who enjoys getting stuck into complex identity challenges, improving security controls, automating processes and working closely with both technical and business stakeholders to deliver results at pace. You'll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact by enhancing access management controls, streamlining identity lifecycle processes and supporting the secure onboarding of key business applications.

What you'll be doing

As an IAM Engineer, you'll provide specialist identity and access management expertise focused on strengthening security controls, improving governance and accelerating identity-related cyber initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Implementing and enhancing Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory controls.
• Delivering SSO, MFA and Conditional Access improvements across business-critical applications.
• Designing and implementing RBAC, privileged access and identity governance controls.
• Improving and automating Joiner, Mover and Leaver processes.
• Onboarding SaaS applications using SAML, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC) and SCIM.
• Developing PowerShell and Microsoft Graph automation.
• Supporting access reviews, governance activities and audit requirements.
• Producing technical documentation, knowledge transfer materials and operational handovers.
• Working closely with Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Service Desk, HR and application owners to deliver secure identity solutions.

What we're looking for

Essential

• Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory.
• Proven experience delivering IAM engineering solutions within enterprise Microsoft environments.
• Experience implementing and supporting SSO, MFA and Conditional Access.
• Strong understanding of identity governance, RBAC and privileged access management.
• Experience automating Joiner, Mover and Leaver processes.
• Experience onboarding SaaS applications using federation and automated provisioning technologies.
• Strong PowerShell and Microsoft Graph automation experience.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills across identity, authentication and directory services.
• Experience creating technical documentation and support handovers.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

• Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300) or similar.
• Experience with Microsoft Entra Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
• Understanding of Zero Trust principles.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Sentinel.
• Experience supporting audit, compliance and access review activities.
• Previous experience delivering contract assignments with defined outcomes and tight timescales.
