ABOUT VAULTIER

Vaultier is building a private collection-management platform for wealthy collectors and the people authorised to manage their collections.

The product will hold sensitive information about valuable pieces, including ownership, value, location, documents, actions and access permissions.

THE ROLE

Vaultier is looking for an independent QA engineer to test its responsive web MVP.

You will review completed features against approved requirements, identify defects and risks, and provide clear evidence of whether each release is ready. You will work independently from the full-stack engineer while collaborating with Product, UX and Development.

You should be comfortable questioning assumptions and testing how the product behaves outside the expected route.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review PRDs, acceptance criteria and approved designs
  • Prepare a proportionate test approach for each release
  • Test completed features across desktop and mobile web
  • Test supported browsers and screen sizes
  • Test collector, authorised-representative, Vaultier staff and professional experiences
  • Confirm that each role can only see and perform permitted actions
  • Test account access, authentication and MFA
  • Test collection, piece and Vaultier Record behaviour
  • Test requests, approvals, actions and notifications
  • Test document upload, access and removal
  • Test important status changes and audit-history entries
  • Test payment and identity-checking integrations where included
  • Test error, empty, loading, denied-access and interrupted states
  • Perform exploratory, functional, regression and API testing
  • Test important workflows using realistic but synthetic data
  • Record defects with clear steps, evidence, severity and expected behaviour
  • Retest resolved defects
  • Maintain a concise regression suite
  • Recommend automation where it provides clear value
  • Automate critical repeatable journeys where agreed
  • Provide an independent release-readiness assessment
  • Report serious privacy, permissions or data-exposure risks immediately

MVP REQUIREMENTS

  • Role-based access and restricted information
  • Separation between different client accounts
  • External sharing and professional access
  • Approval authority
  • Ownership and custody changes
  • Record verification status
  • Sensitive values, locations and documents
  • Audit history
  • Archived and corrected information
  • Responsive behaviour
  • Failed, incomplete and interrupted actions

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • At least five years of software QA experience
  • Experience testing responsive web applications
  • Strong functional, exploratory and regression-testing skills
  • Experience testing APIs and database-backed behaviour
  • Experience testing authentication and role-based permissions
  • Experience working with sensitive or confidential information
  • Ability to read requirements and identify missing cases
  • Experience working independently with developers and product teams
  • Strong defect reporting and written communication
  • Experience supporting startup or MVP releases
  • Familiarity with browser developer tools and API-testing tools
  • Understanding of when test automation is and is not worthwhile
  • Experience with Playwright, Cypress or a comparable automation framework is preferred.

WORKING APPROACH

The QA engineer will be involved as features become ready for testing and before each release.

The engagement will include:

  • Reviewing upcoming acceptance criteria
  • Testing completed work
  • Reporting and prioritising defects
  • Retesting fixes
  • Running regression checks
  • Providing a clear release recommendation

The developer will be responsible for code-level testing. The QA engineer provides independent product-level assurance.

INDEPENDENCE

The QA engineer must provide an impartial assessment of the product. They should not be employed by, subcontracted through or commercially dependent on the engineer responsible for building the product unless that relationship is disclosed and approved.

AI-ASSISTED TESTING

AI tools can be used where they improve testing, provided that:

  • All tools are disclosed to Vaultier
  • Confidential information is not uploaded
  • Client data, collection data, credentials and private documents are not entered into unapproved systems
  • AI-generated test cases and scripts are reviewed before use
  • The QA engineer remains responsible for the accuracy and adequacy of testing

APPLICATION

Applicants should provide:

  • A CV or professional profile
  • Examples of relevant web products they have tested
  • Details of their experience testing permissions and sensitive information
  • Details of their manual, API and automation-testing experience
  • Availability from 20 November 2026
