2nd/3rd Line Engineer (Migrations & Generalist Support) at Coreitech, United Kingdom, Ad Hoc, £Contractor Rate (Outside IR35)

Contract Description

Engagement type: Ad-hoc contract work via your own Limited Company

Location: Fully remote

About the work

Coreitech is an IT services provider supporting SMEs across a range of sectors. We’re looking for an experienced 2nd/3rd line generalist to take on migration projects and escalation work on an as-needed basis. Work is sporadic and project-led – it picks up when we onboard a new client or run a migration, and goes quiet in between – so this suits someone running their own consultancy or juggling other clients. All work is delivered remotely.

Typical pieces of work

  • Email migrations – Google Workspace to Microsoft 365, IMAP/POP to Exchange Online, tenant-to-tenant, on-prem Exchange to cloud
  • Data migrations – file servers to SharePoint/OneDrive, Google Drive to M365, Dropbox and other cloud storage moves
  • Pre-migration discovery, planning and cutover scheduling with minimal client disruption
  • Post-migration clean-up – mail flow, DNS (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC), permissions and shared mailboxes
  • Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration
  • Windows Server, Active Directory and hybrid environment work
  • Escalations from the 1st line team that need a deeper fix
  • Client onboarding and offboarding projects
  • Documentation and handover notes for each piece of work

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience delivering email and data migrations end to end, including the planning and the awkward edge cases
  • Comfortable with migration tooling (BitTitan MigrationWiz, SharePoint Migration Tool, ShareGate, native Microsoft tools or similar)
  • Solid Microsoft 365, Exchange Online and SharePoint administration skills
  • Good understanding of DNS and mail flow
  • Broad generalist background – happy switching between desktop, server and cloud issues in the same day
  • Able to communicate clearly with non-technical client staff during a cutover, over calls and remote sessions
  • Experienced with remote support tooling (RMM, remote access tools)
  • MSP or multi-client experience preferred
  • Microsoft certifications (MS-102, MD-102 or similar) desirable

How the engagement works

  • Engaged per project or task under a contract for services, with a defined scope and deliverables
  • You control how and when the work is done, within agreed cutover dates and deadlines
  • You supply your own equipment and are free to work for other clients
  • Right of substitution applies
  • Limited Company and appropriate insurances (professional indemnity, public liability) required

To apply, send a short summary of migrations you’ve delivered – size, platforms and tooling used – along with your day rate to careers@coreitech.co.uk
