Warlord Games is looking for freelance Game Developers to support rules, background, army lists, scenarios, supplements and game content across our ranges.
This role may include writing, development, playtesting support, editing, feedback review, rules clarification and product support. We are especially interested in people who understand tabletop games as products, not just as personal creative projects.
We are looking for freelancers who can:
Write and develop clear, playable rules, army lists, unit entries, scenarios, campaign material and supporting game content.
Work from approved Product Definitions, Creative Briefs, setting guidance, product requirements and agreed development direction.
Understand rules clarity, balance, player experience, internal consistency and product purpose.
Write clean background, examples, designer notes, product text or supporting copy where required.
Review feedback from playtesters, internal teams, customers, events or community sources and turn useful evidence into practical revisions.
Maintain terminology, tone, house style and consistency.
Work constructively with editors, designers, graphic designers, artists, sculptors and external contributors.
Meet deadlines and manage versions, change notes and feedback properly.
We need people who can work to a brief and take feedback seriously.
Game development is not just having opinions about rules. It is making decisions that serve the product, the player, the setting and the business. We value freelancers who can separate evidence from preference, explain their thinking clearly, and respond professionally when work needs changing.
If your instinct is to defend every first draft as sacred text, this will be painful for everyone. Mainly us.
