Contract Description

Part-Time Senior UI/UX Designer

Part-Time Senior UI/UX Designer

Location: Remote / Work From Home + 1–2 days per week in Canary Wharf, London
Experience: 3–5+ years
Engagement: Part-time / Project-based
Compensation: Approximately £150–£300 per website/app design or redesign project, depending on scope and complexity

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and creative UI/UX Designer with a strong portfolio of sophisticated website and mobile application designs.

This is not a junior design position. We are looking for someone with 3–5+ years of solid commercial design experience who is extremely confident in Figma, understands modern UI/UX principles, and can take a project from an initial idea through wireframes, polished high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes.

You should have a strong eye for detail and be capable of creating modern, premium and visually sophisticated digital experiences, rather than relying purely on standard templates or basic layouts.

The position is primarily work from home, but you will need to be able to come into our Canary Wharf, London office approximately once or twice per week when required to work through designs, revisions, iterations and project requirements with the team.

What You'll Be Doing

You will work across a variety of digital projects, including:

  • Designing and redesigning modern, professional websites
  • Designing sophisticated web applications and mobile apps
  • Creating complete UI/UX concepts in Figma
  • Producing wireframes, user flows and high-fidelity interfaces
  • Building clickable and interactive Figma prototypes
  • Designing responsive desktop, tablet and mobile experiences
  • Creating reusable components and organised design systems
  • Taking existing websites/apps and significantly improving their UX and visual design
  • Working through multiple rounds of feedback, revisions and iterations
  • Translating business requirements and rough concepts into polished digital products
  • Collaborating with our team and developers to ensure designs can be implemented accurately
  • Maintaining consistency across typography, spacing, components, layouts and interactions

What We're Looking For

You should have 3–5+ years of strong UI/UX and digital product design experience with an excellent portfolio demonstrating your abilities.

We particularly want to see:

Advanced Figma skills — you should be extremely comfortable with components, variants, Auto Layout, responsive design, prototyping and maintaining organised design files.

Strong UI design ability — your portfolio should demonstrate sophisticated visual design, excellent typography, spacing, hierarchy, colour usage and attention to detail.

UX thinking — you should understand user journeys, navigation, information architecture, usability and conversion-focused design rather than simply making screens look attractive.

Complex design experience — we are particularly interested in designers who have worked on dashboards, SaaS platforms, marketplaces, booking systems, fintech-style interfaces, data-heavy applications or other products involving more complex user experiences.

Excellent prototyping skills — you should be capable of creating convincing interactive prototypes in Figma to demonstrate flows, interactions and functionality before development.

Strong website AND app portfolio — applicants should be able to demonstrate high-quality commercial work across both websites and applications.

The Designer We're Looking For

You are someone who can be given a brief, business objective or existing product and independently develop it into a highly polished design.

You have strong creative judgement and don't need to be told how to position every element on a screen.

You understand the difference between an average interface and a premium, sophisticated digital product.

You are comfortable receiving detailed feedback and rapidly producing revisions and alternative approaches.

You also understand that great UI/UX requires iteration. We want someone who is happy to sit down with the team, review a design carefully, challenge ideas where appropriate and continue refining it until the product feels right.

Working Arrangement

This is a part-time, primarily remote/work-from-home position.

However, you must be based within reasonable travelling distance of Canary Wharf, London, as you will be expected to come into our offices approximately once or twice per week when required.

Office sessions will typically focus on reviewing designs, discussing new projects, working through revisions and iterations, and collaborating with the wider team.

The remainder of the work can be completed remotely.

Compensation

We expect to pay approximately £150–£300 per website or app design/redesign project, depending on the complexity and scope of the assignment.

There is potential for regular ongoing work for the right designer as we have multiple digital projects requiring UI/UX design.
