Job Overview

7 months with potential extension up to 12.
Purpose
Single point of senior accountability to NHS Scotland (HIS) for the whole engagement. Owns the relationship, outcomes, plan, budget and governance; shapes the people-led service design approach; and co-ordinates knowledge transfer so that the client can manage and extend the website independently after the contract.
Key responsibilities
- Own the client relationship and overall delivery; chair governance meetings and act as escalation point; approve quality gates.
- Plan and manage day-to-day delivery: schedule, RAID log, change control, reporting (weekly status, monthly highlight report) and dependency management.
- Co-ordinate HIS stakeholders — the Transformational Change–Systems Unit, Communications Team, Digital Team and directorate editors — and route decisions to the Client's Director responsible for Communications for final sign-off.
- Lead service-design thinking: map end-to-end user journeys across the two directorates, identify service pain points, and ensure the design works across channels and internal processes.
- Own and co-ordinate the capability-building and handover plan across the team, using Clariter's Academy assessment model to track HIS staff's growing capability.
- Protect the fixed price through formal change control; manage risks, assumptions and business continuity.
Essential skills and experience
- Proven experience leading and managing digital/website or digital-transformation projects end-to-end, ideally in public sector, health/social care or similarly complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Strong delivery/project management (planning, RAID, change control, reporting) and stakeholder management at senior level.
- Service design and user-centred design expertise; able to turn user evidence into design and content decisions.
- Experience of capability building, coaching and knowledge transfer to client teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable facilitating workshops and governance with senior stakeholders.
Desirable
- Project/agile certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, Scrum) and/or service design qualification.
- Familiarity with GDS Service Standard and public-sector digital delivery.
- Experience of fixed-price engagements.
