Associate Cloud & Modern Workplace Consultant at TechAlign Ltd, Manchester, 3 Months, £400-£600 per day

£400 - £600 per day

Contract Description

October 2026 start | Fully remote, occasional client site visits | £400-£600/day, dependent on experience | Outside IR35

TechAlign is an independent, vendor-neutral technology advisory firm working on mid-market transactions, technology and cyber due diligence, carve-out separation, and integration and value creation, primarily for lower-mid-market and mid-market private equity investors and their portfolio companies.

As part of our integration and value creation work, we are often involved in leading the delivery of platform consolidation projects, tenant-to-tenant migrations, workload rationalisation and complex migration scenarios that offer plentiful opportunities for growth. Independence is why the firm exists: no vendor relationships, no commission, no incentive to recommend one platform over another.

Every engagement is principal-led by people who've run this kind of work before, not just advised on it, and we look for associates that want to grow in a dynamic environment work as part of a highly skilled, collaborative team.

We're based in Manchester, and we're building our associate network deliberately as the firm grows, looking for people who want a genuine ongoing relationship with us, not a one-off placement. Associates who deliver well are the first people we call for the next engagement, and the ones we invest in as we scale.

The role

This associate role sits within TechAlign's Integration and Value Creation practice, supporting the technology consolidation workstream of a client's post-acquisition integration programme.

We're looking for a Cloud & Modern Workplace Consultant to deliver a defined programme of Microsoft 365 and Azure infrastructure work for a portfolio company client, working from designs and playbooks produced by our Solutions Architect.

This is a delivery focused role, you'll execute an agreed technical plan rather than set the architecture, though we want consultants who use good judgement to flag gaps or edge cases rather than working around them.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the technical execution of a Microsoft 365 migration as part of a broader platform consolidation following M&A activity
  • Delivering Azure infrastructure work as specified in designs
  • Building Intune device management and compliance policies
  • Configuring Microsoft Entra ID, including Conditional Access policies
  • Implementing Microsoft Purview information protection and governance controls
  • Migrating and configuring SharePoint content and sites
  • Testing and validating deployed solutions meet customer requirements and reflect the documented design
  • Working autonomously against milestones, with support from our solutions architect for design questions

What we're looking for

  • Proven hands-on delivery experience across Microsoft 365, Azure infrastructure, Intune, and Entra ID (Azure AD), ideally including Conditional Access policy configuration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview and SharePoint migration/administration.
  • Comfortable working independently from an agreed design and playbook, with good judgement about when to flag issues rather than push through them.
  • Strong communication skills - you'll be working directly with client stakeholders as well as our internal team.
  • A professional, discreet approach to confidential client and deal information. We're looking for demonstrable experience handling confidential, regulated or commercially sensitive information - for example through prior work in M&A, private equity, financial services, government, or another environment with comparable confidentiality demands.
  • Experience dealing with platform migrations, tenant-to-tenant transition, cloud migrations and similar complex consolidation scenarios is a major plus.

Engagement terms

  • Three months from October 2026 (some flexibility on exact start date), with the potential to extend.
  • Must operate through your own limited company; sole trader arrangements are not accepted for this engagement.
  • No exclusivity. You're free to take on other client work alongside this engagement, provided it doesn't create a conflict of interest with TechAlign's clients or impact committed work, availability, or agreed delivery deadlines for this engagement.
  • Professional indemnity and public liability insurance required.

Working arrangement

Fully remote, with occasional visits to client site as the engagement requires. We'll confirm specifics with shortlisted candidates.
