Backend Software Engineer at GlobalLogic UK&I, London, 6 Months, £Contract Rate

Embedded within a dedicated feature squad, you will build cross-functional expertise across business domain logic, core applications, data architecture, and underlying infrastructure while collaborating with domain architects, principal engineers, and key business partners to align platform performance with organisational goals.

In this role, you will execute backlog items through Agile workflows to craft durable, future-proof software, balancing deliberate architecture with experimental design and hands-on prototyping. Additionally, you will engineer scalable systems around a foundation of automated testing, building, and deployment using continuous execution patterns.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver robust, highly available distributed systems using Agile practices.

• Drive CI/CD excellence, automating build, test, and deployment workflows with executable patterns.

• Prototype emergent designs alongside principal engineers, balancing intentional architecture with hands-on experimentation.

• Guide and upskill fellow engineers within an autonomous, product-driven culture.

What You Bring

• Hands-on experience building cloud-native services using Spring Boot, Kafka, and scale-ready RESTful APIs (versioning, observability, compatibility).

• You'll leverage consumer-driven contract testing to maintain strong API contracts and prevent breaking changes across interconnected microservices.

• Deep knowledge of event-driven architectures (orchestrated/choreographed) and failure-tolerant distributed design.

• Mastery of production Continuous Deployment, automated testing, and operational reliability.

• Exposure to modern agentic coding practices.
