Luxury E-commerce Website Experience Strategist & Content Architect
A new British luxury fragrance house is seeking an experienced freelance website strategist to plan and deliver the complete content structure and customer experience for its bespoke e-commerce website.
A website design and development agency has already been appointed. This is not a coding or web-development role.
We need someone who can take our brand vision and determine:
- Which pages the website requires
- What should appear on every page
- How each page should be structured
- The order and hierarchy of the content
- Where copy, photography, video and animation should be used
- How the fragrances and brand story should be presented
- How customers should move through the website
- What buttons and calls to action are required
- How to make the overall website feel complete, distinctive and luxurious
Four fragrances will be available at the initial launch, with another four introduced later.
The successful consultant will produce a detailed website blueprint and work directly with the appointed agency to ensure that the plan is correctly translated into Figma designs and the completed website.
Key Responsibilities
- Research high-quality luxury fragrance, beauty and e-commerce websites.
- Identify the principles that make a luxury website feel refined, complete and commercially effective.
- Develop an original website experience suitable for a new luxury fragrance house.
- Review and refine the sitemap, navigation and customer journey.
- Determine the purpose of every principal page.
- Create a detailed page-by-page plan covering the sections, content order, imagery, video, copy direction, buttons and links.
- Plan the homepage in detail, including the opening section, product introductions, brand storytelling and customer pathways.
- Plan fragrance collection and individual product pages.
- Decide how fragrance notes, inspiration, concentration, product details, packaging, delivery and returns information should be presented.
- Plan supporting pages such as the brand story, journal, gifting, customer care, FAQs, contact, account and policy pages.
- Identify all required copy, product information, photography, video, animation and other assets.
- Prepare a content and asset matrix showing what is required, who will provide it and when it is needed.
- Prepare clear creative briefs for any missing copy, photography, video or animation.
- Brief the appointed website agency on the approved plan.
- Review wireframes and Figma designs to ensure they reflect the agreed structure and luxury direction.
- Provide clear, consolidated feedback and recommendations.
- Review the staging website before launch to identify missing, misplaced or inconsistent content.
Required Deliverables
The consultant will be expected to provide:
- A concise luxury website benchmark review
- A complete website experience strategy
- A reviewed sitemap and customer journey
- A detailed page-by-page website blueprint
- A homepage structure and content plan
- A framework for fragrance collection and product pages
- A complete content and asset requirements matrix
- Briefs for required copy, photography, video and animation
- A structured handover document for the appointed agency
- Consolidated reviews of wireframes and Figma designs
- A final content and customer-experience review before launch
All project-specific documents must be provided in an editable format.
Required Experience
Applicants should have:
- Experience in luxury digital strategy, content architecture, UX strategy or e-commerce website planning
- Experience planning complete websites, not only managing schedules
- Strong understanding of luxury branding, storytelling and product presentation
- Experience creating sitemaps, customer journeys, page plans and content matrices
- Confidence reviewing wireframes and Figma designs
- Experience briefing and working with external website agencies
- Excellent written communication, organisation and visual judgement
- The ability to explain the reasoning behind recommendations
- The ability to turn a brand vision into a detailed and practical website plan
Experience in fragrance, beauty, fashion, jewellery or another premium consumer sector is highly desirable.
This role is not suitable for applicants whose experience is mainly in coding, general project administration, social-media management, paid advertising or SEO.
