Purpose of the role

We are looking for an experienced and technically confident Digital Project Manager (website) to lead the successful delivery of a new Soccer Aid for UNICEF website.

Working in collaboration with the Soccer Aid marketing team, digital teams at UNICEF UK and our appointed digital agency, you will take day-to-day ownership of technical delivery: clarifying requirements, strengthening specifications, prompting timely decisions and ensuring the agency delivers against agreed scope, quality, budget and timescales.

This is a client-side technical delivery role, not a web design or marketing role. We need someone who can work at pace and understands how modern websites are planned, built, integrated, tested and launched.

Experience in sport, entertainment, live events, venues, or other audience-facing businesses would be particularly valuable, with an understanding of charity websites and associated integration and governance.

Key responsibilitiesWebsite project delivery
  • Take day-to-day ownership for Soccer Aid Productions (‘’Soccer Aid for UNICEF’’) of the technical and operational delivery of the new website project.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team and UNICEF UK digital team to establish priorities, milestones, dependencies and key decision points. Please note this role is employed by Soccer Aid Productions, not UNICEF UK.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, ensuring activities remain on track and issues are identified early.
  • Collaborate with the Soccer Aid marketing team and other colleagues to ensure requirements, content, assets, approvals and decisions are delivered when required.
  • Champion clear sign-off processes and ensure that decisions are properly documented and communicated.
  • Monitor project scope, budget, risks, issues and dependencies, escalating matters appropriately.
  • Ensure the project moves efficiently through discovery, requirements, design, development, testing, user acceptance and launch.
  • Maintain a clear view of the critical path and ensure that delays or dependencies are identified and addressed promptly.

Technical requirements and agency management
  • Develop a strong understanding of the proposed website architecture, CMS, integrations and technical approach.
  • Work with UNICEF and relevant partners to define requirements for the donation journey, ensuring users have a seamless experience and all technical, data and operational requirements are understood.
  • Collaboratively identify and manage integration points across donation and payment journeys, other third-party services, ensuring requirements, data flows, ownership and dependencies are clear.
  • Challenge technical recommendations where appropriate and ensure proposed solutions are proportionate, sustainable and fit for purpose.
  • Give the agency the clear requirements, information and decisions needed to deliver on time.
  • Hold the agency accountable for agreed deliverables, quality standards, milestones and deadlines.

Website quality, testing and launch
  • Coordinate website testing and user acceptance testing across relevant internal teams and external partners.
  • Support website launch planning and execution, including technical readiness, redirects, domains, analytics, tracking and post-launch monitoring.
  • Put plans in place for launch-day support, rapid issue resolution and ongoing website maintenance after launch.

Stakeholder management
  • Build effective relationships across Marketing, UNICEF UK, suppliers, agencies and partners, ensuring senior stakeholders understand what is required from them and when.
  • Translate technical concepts, risks and dependencies into clear, practical language for non-technical colleagues and senior stakeholders.
  • Provide the Brand and Marketing Director with concise updates on progress, risks, decisions, budget and delivery.

Experience and qualificationsEssential
  • Proven experience managing the delivery of website or significant digital projects.
  • Experience working with external agencies, technical suppliers and digital partners.
  • Strong understanding of website development processes and technical requirements.
  • Experience managing stakeholders, agencies and competing requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills, with a strong focus on delivery and deadlines.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information clearly for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing testing, quality assurance and website launches.
