Business Analyst at BP, Remote/Sunbury, £Contract Rate

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Business Analysts to support a global divestiture and separation program within an industrial lubricants business.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager within the Infrastructure Workstream, these roles will be responsible for discovering, documenting, and validating the technology landscape supporting manufacturing plants, laboratories, and technology centres across the divesting organization.

The Business Analysts will work closely with plant personnel, laboratory teams, business stakeholders, infrastructure teams, and application owners to create a comprehensive view of systems, interfaces, infrastructure dependencies and operational processes. This information will support buyer due diligence, separation planning, TSA development, Day 1 readiness, and transition execution.

In addition, the analysts will support site cutover and application migration activities by identifying operational impacts, tracking site readiness, documenting dependencies, and helping coordinate transition activities across the global plant and laboratory network.

Key Responsibilities

IT Systems Discovery & Documentation

· Conduct discovery workshops and interviews with business, manufacturing, laboratory, and IT stakeholders.

· Identify and document the systems supporting operational and business processes.

· Develop and maintain inventories of applications, infrastructure services, interfaces, data flows, and support arrangements.

· Document system ownership, business criticality, hosting arrangements, and vendor dependencies.

· Create process maps, application landscape diagrams, and dependency models.

· Validate findings with business and technical stakeholders to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Buyer Due Diligence Support

· Prepare technology information and supporting documentation for buyer due diligence activities.

· Support population of data rooms and due diligence trackers.

· Respond to information requests from M&A, PMO, and Infrastructure workstreams.

· Ensure documentation is maintained to a standard suitable for external review.

· Assist in identifying technology-related risks and separation considerations.

Application & Infrastructure Dependency Analysis

· Analyse relationships between applications, infrastructure components, manufacturing systems, and laboratory systems.

· Document integrations, interfaces, data exchanges, and shared services.

· Identify systems that may require migration, replication, replacement, or ongoing support following transaction close.

· Support dependency assessments used for separation planning and TSA development.

Site Cutover & Transition Support

· Support planning and readiness activities for plant, laboratory, and business site transitions.

· Assist with tracking site readiness milestones, operational impacts, and key dependencies.

· Work with Application and Infrastructure teams to ensure migration activities are reflected in site transition plans.

· Document business impacts, risks, assumptions, and operational constraints.

· Support testing, deployment planning, cutover preparation, and hypercare activities as required.

Stakeholder Engagement

· Build strong relationships with site leadership, operational teams, subject matter experts, and technology teams.

· Facilitate workshops and working sessions across multiple regions and time zones.

· Capture and communicate actions, risks, issues, decisions, and dependencies.

· Provide regular status updates to the Senior Project Manager and workstream leadership.

Required Qualifications

Education

· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related discipline.

Experience

· 5+ years of business analysis experience in IT, infrastructure, or business transformation programs.

· Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.

· Experience working with enterprise applications and infrastructure environments.

· Experience supporting large-scale transformation, migration, or separation projects is desirable.

· Experience in manufacturing, chemicals, industrial products, lubricants, or process industries is preferred.
