Overview

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst to join a digital transformation programme spanning products, platforms, operating models and data. This is a consulting-calibre BA role: framing ambiguous problem spaces, synthesising research, stakeholder input and data into clear options and a practical route to value, then partnering closely with Product, Delivery, Engineering and Design to shape the "why/what" and enable the "how". You will operate in a hybrid, Agile delivery environment, bringing structured, hypothesis-driven thinking to messy problems, and will play a part in growing BA capability within the team as it scales. Success looks like decision-ready recommendations, confident stakeholder alignment, and outcomes that hold from discovery through delivery and into business-as-usual.

Key Responsibilities

  • Frame ambiguous problem situations quickly, defining hypotheses and identifying the few levers that matter most
  • Build robust options analyses tied to strategy, using clear criteria, stated assumptions and comparative risk/cost/benefit analysis
  • Facilitate crisp workshops and use compelling narrative to secure stakeholder decisions, pitching proposals rather than simply presenting information
  • Partner closely with Product, Delivery, Engineering and Design to shape solution direction and de-risk delivery end-to-end
  • Maintain continuity from discovery through delivery, refining scope and keeping documentation lean and outcome-focused
  • Help define expected benefits and success measures, and support handover into business-as-usual so outcomes can be demonstrated
  • Contribute to growing BA capability and practice as the function scales

Essential Skills

  • Strong, consulting-calibre Business Analyst experience, comfortable working in ambiguous, complex problem spaces rather than a "ticket writer" role
  • Experience working to the GOV.UK Service Standard or within the public sector
  • Proven ability to translate analysis and research into clear, decision-ready recommendations and prioritised options
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, building credibility quickly and tailoring engagement to context and seniority
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments, with the flexibility to adapt approach to context
  • Track record leading analysis and direction-setting on complex digital transformation programmes end-to-end
  • Outcomes-focused, commercially aware mindset, comfortable working transparently and sharing thinking early
  • Willing to undergo BPSS clearance

Nice To Have

  • Experience mentoring or developing BA capability within a growing team or function
  • Exposure to Central Government digital transformation programmes
  • Relevant BA certifications (eg BCS, IIBA)
