GIS Analyst (Wayfinding Focus)

Role Overview

We are seeking a GIS Analyst for a 6-month contract with the possibility of extension to support project setup, data organization, some data analysis and mapping efforts across multiple projects. This role focuses on building clean, well-structured geospatial datasets and ensuring accessibility for cross-functional collaborators.

As a GIS Analyst at Applied Information Group, you will support our navigational strategies. You will transform complex spatial data into intuitive wayfinding solutions, ensuring that pedestrians and commuters can navigate physical spaces with ease. You will bridge the gap between technical geographic data and human-centric design.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Modeling: Develop and maintain pedestrian and vehicular network datasets to support routing and network analysis use cases.
• Cartographic Support: Create map outputs that are oriented based on detailed placement plans. We deliver ‘heads up’ physical maps to clients. This requires efficiently orienting maps based on their real-world location. We also deliver digital maps that adhere to aesthetic brand standards.
• Data Integration: Seamlessly translate and integrate multiple data sources –
• Data Organization: Design, build, and maintain cloud-based geospatial databases for project use. Ensure teammates have appropriate access and edit permissions for project data. Support team members by designing logical data naming and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to help define spatial data needs and analysis questions.
• Support data workflows that enable efficient collaboration across teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3-5 years of GIS technical experience.
• Software Expertise: Proficiency in QGIS and Python.
• Data management: Experience creating cloud-hosted GIS databases and managing permissions.
• Experience developing clear data organization and naming strategies, ensuring data provenance and currency is clear to cross-disciplinary collaborators.
• Working from our London studio.
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in geographic information science, geomatics, computer science, civil engineering, information systems, or a related field.

Desired Skills

• Technical Literacy: Experience with AutoCAD or Revit is highly desirable for translating architectural plans into GIS.
• Human-Centric Thinking: A keen interest in urban design, psychology, or user experience (UX) to ensure maps are truly ‘usable’.
• Strong attention to detail and data organization practices.
• Interest in urban planning and the built environment.
• Experience developing web maps and cloud-native geospatial tooling.
