AI and Automation Delivery and Change Practitioner at Ministry of Defence, Remote/Bristol, 6 Months, £Contract Rate

Job description

As the AI and Automation Delivery and Change Practitioner within the J2C Commercial Programme, you will support the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation and digital innovation across Defence Commercial. Working with Commercial, Digital and Corporate Services Modernisation (CSM) teams, you will identify opportunities to improve ways of working, increase productivity and simplify processes through the effective use of AI-enabled technologies.

You will help coordinate AI and automation activities, support users to adopt new technologies and contribute to ensuring AI solutions are implemented responsibly, securely and in line with Defence policies and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

AI Adoption and Continuous Improvement

  • Support the delivery of AI and automation initiatives across Defence Commercial.
  • Identify opportunities where AI and automation can improve business processes and user experience.
  • Promote awareness of AI capabilities and encourage innovative ways of working.
  • Monitor and report on the benefits and outcomes of AI and automation activities.

 

Automation and Productivity

  • Support the implementation and adoption of Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform and other digital tools.
  • Identify manual and repetitive processes suitable for automation.
  • Work with stakeholders to develop and implement automation solutions.
  • Track improvements in productivity, efficiency and service delivery.

 

Change and Engagement

  • Develop communications, guidance and learning materials to support AI adoption.
  • Facilitate workshops, demonstrations and knowledge-sharing sessions.
  • Support communities of practice and encourage the sharing of AI use cases and lessons learned.
  • Gather user feedback and help shape future improvements.

 

Governance and Assurance

  • Ensure AI and automation initiatives comply with MOD security, information management and governance requirements.
  • Support the identification and management of risks associated with AI adoption.
  • Contribute to assurance activities and governance reporting.
  • Promote responsible and ethical use of AI technologies.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain positive working relationships across Commercial, Digital and CSM teams.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support successful delivery.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the practical application of AI and automation tools.
  • Support senior colleagues with reporting, presentations and business cases.

 

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Experience delivering AI, digital transformation, automation, business improvement or change initiatives.
  • Understanding of Generative AI, automation technologies and their application in a business environment.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and technology adoption.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform or equivalent productivity tools.
  • Track record of creating and implementing agentic AI.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to analyse business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.

 

Desirable Experience

  • Knowledge of Defence Commercial processes and operating environments.
  • Experience using Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio or similar automation tools.
  • Understanding of information management, data governance and AI assurance principles.
  • Experience working in Defence, government or other regulated environments.
