PMO Support Manager at Department for Education, Sheffield, 3 Months, £Contract Rate

Job Purpose:

 

We are recruiting for a SEO PMO Support Manager to lead a defined set of interdependent projects and the associated business change activities. As our SEO PMO Support Manager, you will have primary responsibility for successful delivery of the required outcomes, including the establishment of appropriate governance and assurance, monitoring progress, managing risks and issues and ensuring the business readiness for change.

 

In this role you 'll work across the SRD and support the Grade 6s and G7 through leading the PMO team to support SRD's work which includes the Academy Financial Returns, the Academies Sector Report and Accounts, the Teachers' Pension Scheme accounts and the FE Reclassification project.

 

As a PMO Support Manager , your main responsibilities will be to:

 

  • Lead on the project planning and delivery of the Academies Data collections, supporting the FE Dry run delivery and the future delivery of the FE FR online form as part of the FE reclassification project.
  • Oversee the capture and monitoring of risks and issues. Provide assurance to the Grade 6s and 7s on the effectiveness of Risk and Issue management arrangements
  • Support the overall governance and assurance structure for SRD. This includes the secretariat function for internal Boards and working groups, and sector-facing working groups
  • Establish and implement protocols to change the scope of projects and/or programmes and update configuration documents as required.

 

Essential:

 

  • Demonstrable project management experience within a structured environment.
  • Strong capability in planning and scheduling.
  • Experience in risk and issue management, with an ability to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Understanding of change management principles and practices.
  • Ability to design, implement and track project performance against milestones
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels
  • Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery methodologies.

 

 

Desirable:

 

  • Experience in a PMO function within government or a regulated environment.
  • MSP practitioner or advanced practitioner, APM Project Management Qualification
