We're designing a bold, contemporary website for a major new cultural and tourism destination in the Middle East. We need a designer who thinks in motion and interaction, not just static screens.
01 THE ENGAGEMENT
This is a flagship cultural project. The site needs to feel like the institution it represents: confident, art-forward, and memorable. Not a template with a logo dropped in.
You'll work directly with our team, designing in Figma and handing off to developers. The engagement is short and intense: 6–8 weeks, part-time, milestone-driven, starting immediately.
02 ABOUT ROCK PAPER REALITY
We're an innovative creative studio specialising in immersive storytelling and next-gen digital experiences. We've built work for Epic Games, Adobe, Amazon, Google, LVMH, Netflix and Microsoft, and we care a lot about craft.
03 WHAT YOU'LL DO
• Design the visual and interaction system for the site: key pages, states, and responsive behaviour
• Build and maintain a proper Figma file: components, auto-layout, variants, working prototypes
• Design and specify motion: page transitions, scroll-driven animation, micro-interactions, hover and loading states
• Own typography, layout, and visual hierarchy at a high level of craft
• Hand off cleanly to developers with specs they can actually build from
04 WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
• 8+ years designing production web/product interfaces, including senior or lead ownership, not just contributing within someone else's design system.
• Deep, hands-on Figma expertise. Components, auto-layout, variants, prototyping. Not static mock-ups.
• A real sense of motion. You can design and spec transitions, scroll behaviour, and interactive states, and you understand what's actually buildable.
• A bold, modern portfolio. Editorial, art-forward, or cultural-sector work stands out to us. Show us work you art-directed, not just executed.
• You take a loose brief and run. We don't have bandwidth to art-direct you. We need someone who makes strong calls independently and flags trade-offs, not someone who needs the brief broken down.
• Comfort with rich interactive experiences and clean developer handoff.
• Excellent typographic and layout craft. This is a visual-first project.
• EMEA-based, with flexibility to overlap with a Gulf-region working day.
• Genuine availability now. We're interviewing this week and starting next.
This isn't a fit for early-career designers, or people who've mostly executed within an existing system rather than defined one.
Nice to have
• Previous work with cultural, tourism, arts, or brand-experience clients
• Awareness of accessibility (WCAG) and multi-device/responsive design
• Experience designing bilingual or RTL layouts
• Comfort working alongside a WebGL or creative-dev build
05 HOW TO APPLY
• Portfolio link, and point us to the two or three most relevant projects
• Two short case studies: what the brief was, what you specifically did (be precise about your role), and what shipped
• One Figma file we can look at: view access to a real working file, client names redacted if needed. We want to see how you structure components and build prototypes, not just the final pixels.
• In 2–3 sentences: describe a project where you had to make a significant creative call with little brief, and what you decided.
• Your availability and day rate
