Title: Interim Commercial Effectiveness Manager

Duration: 6 months

Location: London, UK

Hybrid Working: 3 times on-site per week (2 days remote)

Purpose:

Partner with Franchise, Sales, Marketing, Medical, Transforming Care, BI&A, Finance, Private and Business Operations leaders to optimise commercial performance through insight generation, go-to-market excellence and operational effectiveness.

Proactively diagnose commercial performance, translating data, analytics and market insights into actionable go-to-market, channel mix and customer engagement recommendations aligned to brand strategy, business objectives and evolving market dynamics. Provide commercial challenge, identify the drivers of performance and recommend actions that improve business outcomes.

Utilise deep understanding of customer engagement and go-to-market execution to identify opportunities that improve commercial effectiveness and business outcomes.

Partner with franchise leadership to drive commercial decisions, enhance customer engagement and optimise resource allocation through evidence-based recommendations, measuring adoption and business impact to drive continuous improvement, maximise ROI and improve field force effectiveness.

Commercial Performance and Engagement Performance

• Be a leading commercial franchise partner, influencing decision-making through evidence-based insights, commercial challenge and actionable recommendations.

• Generate actionable analytics and insights on go-to-market execution, customer engagement effectiveness, channel performance, impact and ROI.

• Identify national and sub-national drivers of performance and recommend targeted actions to improve business outcomes.

• Deliver and assess customer engagement and commercial performance data at national and sub-national levels, presenting findings, implications and recommendations to leadership teams.

• Diagnose commercial performance challenges, translating complex data into clear narratives that explain what is happening, why it matters and what actions should be taken.

• Monitor the impact of recommendations and support continuous optimisation of commercial performance.

Go-to-Market Design & Customer Engagement

• Lead analytical workstreams to define and optimise go-to-market models aligned to business objectives and customer needs.

• Partner with Franchise Leadership to identify improvements to channel mix, customer reach, engagement frequency and proactively advise on deployment strategies.

• Identify opportunities to enhance multichannel engagement and account-based planning.

• Support field force sizing, resource allocation and organisational design decisions through evidence-based recommendations.

• Address key business questions and identify growth opportunities through robust analysis, providing clear options and recommendations for action.

Commercial Operations

• Lead and support key commercial operations processes, ensuring effectiveness, efficiency and compliance.

• Drive automation, standardisation and simplification of commercial processes.

• Design and implement sales incentive programmes, target-setting methodologies and performance tracking processes.

• Develop segmentation and targeting models and oversee customer targeting processes within CRM platforms.

• Support territory alignment to ensure balanced workload, opportunity and customer coverage.

• Continuously improve commercial processes, governance and ways of working by defining reporting requirements, performance measures and business questions in collaboration with Data Analytics and Digital workstreams, ensuring insights are translated into actions that improve business performance.

• Provide subject matter expertise, leveraging systems and processes to enhance customer engagement and performance.

EXPERIENCE & TRACK RECORD

 

Essential

  • 5-8 years relevant pharmaceutical, commercial, consultancy or agency experience in go-to-market, commercial effectiveness, sales, marketing or analytics-related roles.
  • Proven experience influencing commercial performance through analytics, business insight, strategy, marketing, sales leadership, commercial operations or commercial effectiveness.
  • Proven experience partnering with commercial or franchise leadership teams to diagnose performance challenges, provide commercial challenge and translate insights into actionable recommendations that improve business outcomes.
  • Strong expertise in go-to-market execution, customer engagement and channel mix optimisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate data and analytics into actionable business recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience operating across all organisational levels.
  • Ability to work effectively at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Strong project management and prioritisation capability.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, high-priority and high-profile commercial initiatives.

 

Desirable

  • Experience within UK pharmaceutical environments, particularly oncology or specialty care.
  • Knowledge of customer engagement analytics, multichannel strategy and account-based planning.
  • Experience with CRM platforms (Veeva, Salesforce) and Power BI.
  • Experience in segmentation, targeting, incentive design and territory alignment.
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical compliance and commercial operations.
  • Experience supporting digital transformation, reporting automation or capability-building initiatives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS OR ACCREDITATIONS

 

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business, Economics, Life Sciences, Analytics or a related field.

Desirable

  • Advanced degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Project Management or Change Management certification.
