Location: Barnet and Hendon
Job Type: Freelance / Contract
Schedule: 12 Hours p/w+ (Wednesdays and Thursdays)
Rate: Competitive, based on experience

Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Freelance Digital Skills Tutor to support learners in building practical digital skills for work, education, and everyday life. This role is ideal for a self-motivated freelancer who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and empowering individuals to confidently use technology.

You will deliver one-to-one and/or small group tutoring sessions, tailoring content to learners’ needs and skill levels. Sessions will be delivered in person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging digital skills tutoring sessions to adults and/or young people
  • Support learners with core digital skills such as:
  • Basic computer and device use (PC, Mac, tablets, smartphones)
  • Email, internet safety, and online communication
  • Microsoft Office or Google Workspace (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Docs, Sheets)
  • Online job searching, CVs, and applications
  • Video conferencing tools (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet)
  • Adapt teaching approaches to suit different learning styles and abilities
  • Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate session records and learner progress notes
  • Promote confidence, independence, and digital inclusion
  • Stay up to date with relevant digital tools and platforms

Requirements

  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring digital or IT-related skills
  • Strong working knowledge of common digital tools and platforms
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, simple way
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage your own schedule
  • Vehicle owner with Full UK Driving Licence
  • Access to a computer, stable internet connection, and relevant software
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one), if working with vulnerable learners

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Teaching, training, or tutoring qualification (formal or informal)
  • Experience working with adult learners, career changers, or digitally excluded individuals
  • Experience delivering online or remote learning
  • Knowledge of accessibility tools or inclusive teaching practices

Pay: £15.64-£20.56 per hour
