Data Delivery Manager at Department for Education, London/Remote, 6 Months, £Contract Rate

The Department for Education is seeking an experienced and delivery-focused Data Delivery Manager to support the Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) and Pupil Parent Matched Dataset (PPMD) Programme within the Enterprise Data for Access and Sharing (EDAS) portfolio.

This is a high-profile opportunity to lead the delivery of complex, cross-government data initiatives that underpin policy development, funding decisions, and research across government and academia. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a pivotal role in establishing effective delivery structures, driving collaboration across technical and business teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of critical data transformation programmes.

The role offers the opportunity to work with nationally significant education datasets and contribute to improving how data is accessed, governed, and used to inform key decisions across the UK public sector.

As a Data Delivery Manager, your main responsibilities will be:

• Lead the delivery of complex data projects and programme workstreams.
• Develop and maintain delivery plans, roadmaps, and governance documentation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across technical, analytical, and business functions.
• Manage risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery milestones.
• Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across government, academia, and external organisations.
• Ensure governance, reporting, and compliance requirements are met.
• Support the consolidation and improvement of large-scale education datasets.
• Facilitate collaboration between data, analytics, and business teams.
• Provide regular progress updates to senior stakeholders and governance boards.
• Drive continuous improvement in delivery processes and ways of working

Essential:

• Proven experience delivering complex projects, programmes, or transformational initiatives using Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2, APM, or similar methodologies.
• Strong ability to manage multiple workstreams, priorities, risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery outcomes across time, cost, quality, and governance objectives.
• Experience producing and maintaining delivery documentation, including plans, roadmaps, RAID logs, governance papers, status reports, and project initiation documents.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience influencing senior leaders and presenting to governance boards within complex organisations.
• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams, driving collaboration, accountability, and successful delivery in fast-paced environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, identify practical solutions, and deliver continuous improvement

Desirable:

• Experience within data management, data governance, analytics, statistics, or large-scale data transformation environments.
• Knowledge of large linked datasets, data standards, data quality, GDPR, and information governance principles.
• Experience working in public sector, education, research, or academic organisations alongside data-focused teams and enterprise data platforms.
