Analytics Engineer (Databricks) at Alliance Health Group, Birmingham/Remote, 3 Months initial (Part-Time), £Contract Rate

Contract Description

Alliance Surgical is a UK private healthcare business working across consultant-led services, medical indemnity insurance broking and claims management. We're partway through building a new data platform on Azure and Databricks, and we now need someone to turn that platform into reporting our clients actually use.

The role

You'll design and build the client-facing reporting layer on Databricks — modelling the data, defining the metrics, and delivering dashboards that go out to external clients rather than sitting on an internal wiki.

This is a delivery role, not a strategy one. We know roughly what the reports need to show; we need someone who can build them.

What you'll do

  • Build and document data models in Databricks SQL to support recurring client reporting
  • Design and deliver dashboards in [Power BI / Databricks dashboards — confirm]
  • Implement access controls so each client sees only their own data
  • Work alongside our platform partner and our in-house developer to agree on data structures and hand over cleanly
  • Complete documentation

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on Databricks experience — SQL warehouse, Unity Catalog, medallion-style modelling
  • Strong SQL and dimensional modelling; dbt experience welcome
  • Experience building multi-tenant or client-facing reporting, including row-level security
  • Comfortable working with sensitive data under UK GDPR
  • Able to work independently and talk directly to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to have

  • UK healthcare, insurance or claims data experience
  • Azure (Data Factory, Blob Storage, Entra ID)
  • Power BI [if that's the front end]

Practicalities

  • Initially around [2 days per week for 3 months], with genuine scope to extend.
  • Ideally based in Birmingham but remote optional.
  • Start: ASAP
