Business Architect at Government Commercial Agency, Liverpool, 6 months, £Contract Rate

On behalf of Government Commercial Agency, we are looking for a Business Architect (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based hybrid (2 days week in office) in either of GCA locations. Liverpool is preferred.

Role:

To support the Government Commercial Agency (GCA) on a significant transformation programme. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Business Architecture function and help shape how the organisation delivers strategic change, operating model transformation, and digital initiatives across the business.

Working within the business, you will play a key role in developing business architecture capability, supporting future-state operating models, assessing organisational gaps, and ensuring change initiatives align with strategic objectives.

As a Business Architect, your main responsibilities will be to:

• Apply and develop business architecture frameworks, principles, and methodologies across the organisation.
• Support the design and evolution of Target Operating Models (TOMs) and future-state business capabilities.
• Create and maintain key business architecture artefacts including capability maps, value streams, organisational models, and strategic roadmaps.
• Conduct gap analysis to identify capability, process, organisational, and transformation deficiencies.
• Work with stakeholders across strategic and operational levels to understand requirements and provide recommendations.
• Support business transformation and digital change initiatives, ensuring alignment to organisational objectives.
• Contribute to transition planning and roadmap development to support successful change delivery.
• Develop scalable models and approaches to analyse and present complex business information.
• Identify business impacts, risks, dependencies, and opportunities that could affect strategic objectives.
• Promote and embed business architecture principles, standards, and best practice across the organisation.
• Support process optimisation and continuous improvement through business analysis and design activities.
• Communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Essential:

• Strong experience developing or supporting Target Operating Models (TOMs).
• Strong analysis and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess organisational capability gaps.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
• Ability to operate effectively across both strategic and operational levels.

Desirable:

• Previous experience within Central Government, wider Public Sector, or regulated environments.
