World Wide Technology EMEA is looking for an experienced Firewall Security Engineer with strong skills in Checkpoint to support our clients network security infrastructure. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Check Point firewalls and a solid understanding of enterprise network security.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain Check Point firewalls (Gaia OS, Security Gateways, Management Servers)
- Manage security policies, NAT rules, VPNs (Site-to-Site and Remote Access), and access control lists
- Monitor firewall performance, logs, and alerts using SmartConsole / SmartEvent / SmartLog
- Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, and security-related incidents
- Perform firmware/software upgrades and patch management (Jumbo HFAs)
- Implement and maintain IPS, Application Control, URL Filtering, Anti-Bot, and Threat Prevention blades
- Conduct regular security audits, rule base cleanups, and optimization
- Document network security configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with network and security teams on architecture design and incident response
- Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Check Point firewalls (R80.x/R81.x)
- Strong knowledge of firewall policy management, VPN configuration, and NAT
- Experience with Check Point Management Server, ClusterXL, and high availability setups
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network security concepts
- Familiarity with other security technologies (IDS/IPS, proxies, SIEM) is a plus
- Check Point certification (CCSA/CCSE) preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
