Job Title: Project Manager – SAP Data

Job Location: Sunbury - on - Thames (Hybrid 3 days in office and two days remote)

Contract role : 12 months (Extension Possible)

Role Purpose

We are seeking a Delivery Manager with deep data experience to support execution across data, analytics, and AI activities for our SAP S/4 transformation programme which is migrating the bp business onto SAP/S4 on their RISE platform. The role will act as the integrator across the technology and business teams to create the coherent and consistent plan for data delivery across programme activities. This covers activities from business master data cleanse, management, business ownership alignment; transactional data transfer; reporting and analytics, and the enablement of AI capabilities and agents across to the new solution delivery.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in project delivery skills – planning, dependency management, and delivery execution along with a broad understanding of data architecture from governance and lineage through to ETL and data reconciliation. The role requires a mix of strong stakeholder and business engagement skills with strong understanding of the core technologies, concepts, and challenges associated with enterprise scale data management and AI fundamentals. Bp uses both SAP core technologies and has a unified data strategy based on the use of Azure and DataBricks alongside other tools to support the full data lifecycle and meta data management. Driving alignment of roadmap, tools, and structures between the developing data platform and governance and the programme delivery is a key dependency to manage.

The role is directly hands‑on and delivery focused, directly responsible for coordinating work, driving actions, resolving dependencies, and ensuring agreed data outcomes are delivered across business and technology teams.

The role is suited to an experienced delivery lead who understands SAP and data programmes, is comfortable operating across multiple workstreams in the delivery as well as business stakeholder alignment, and can act as the integrator between teams with credibility in domain knowledge and the ability to influence outcomes.

The role works closely with senior programme leadership and data stakeholders but remains firmly embedded in day‑to‑day execution. Strong communications and the ability to structure clear communications are critical.

Key Responsibilities

Execution & Integration

• Drive day‑to‑day delivery of data, analytics, and AI‑related activities within the SAP programme.

• Coordinate work across multiple data‑related initiatives, ensuring plans, dependencies, and actions are aligned.

• Act as an integrator across teams, joining up business, SAP, data, and analytics activity where ownership spans multiple areas to ensure a consistent approach and plan remains in place

Delivery Planning & Control

• Develop and manage delivery plans, milestones, and dependencies for assigned data activities.

• Clarify and confirm the roles and responsibilities for the Global Process Owners, CDOs and roles in the data delivery organisation

• Track progress, risks, issues, and actions; follow through to closure.

• Support structured reviews and deep dives where delivery quality, readiness, or timelines are at risk.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Work with data owners, SAP leads, analytics teams, and enterprise data stakeholders to keep delivery moving.

• Support workshops, alignment sessions, and playback meetings to progress decisions and confirm ownership.

• Proactively chase actions and resolve blockers rather than escalations sitting unresolved.

Governance & Ways of Working

• Alignment of the bp CDO community to Quantum delivery requirements and enduring ownership

• Apply agreed governance, standards, and ways of working consistently across delivery activities.

• Support simplification of processes and approvals where this slow execution.

• Ensure deliverables meet agreed quality, sign‑off criteria, and readiness expectations.

Data Readiness & Transition

• Support readiness activities related to data processes, training, and operational handover.

• Help ensure data deliverables are usable, understood, and ready for transition into BAU.

• Capture lessons learned from delivery activity and help embed improvements into future cycles.

Reporting & Communication

• Produce clear delivery updates suitable for programme and data leadership forums.

• Maintain transparent views of progress, risks, and upcoming decision points.

• Contribute to executive‑level reporting with clear facts, not narrative.

Key Deliverables (Typical)

• Integrated delivery plans and trackers across assigned data activities

• RAID and action logs with active follow‑through

• Workshop outputs, decision logs, and ownership confirmations

• Readiness assessments and delivery status packs

• Inputs to programme‑level reporting and governance

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience

• Strong experience as a Project Manager, Delivery Manager, or Data Workstream Lead within SAP, Data, Analytics, or AI‑enabled programmes.

• Proven ability to drive execution, manage dependencies, and keep delivery moving in complex environments.

• Experience working across business and technology teams, translating direction into practical next steps.

• Comfortable operating hands‑on with plans, trackers, RAID, and delivery artefacts.

Key Requirement

• The candidate must have previous experience working in similar execution roles, where success depended on persistence, integration, and delivery follow‑through rather than strategic authority.

Desirable Experience

• SAP S/4HANA programme exposure.

• Experience across data domains such as data management, migration, reporting & analytics, or governance.

• Familiarity with enterprise data functions, operating models, or BAU transition activities.
