Role Title: Solutions Architect

Contract Length:  Until December 2026
Engagement Type:  Umbrella or PAYE
Location:  London or Milton Keynes - Hybrid

Skills & Experience Required:

Technical Skills

  • Experience across infrastructure, networking, and enterprise solution architecture.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with storage, middleware, application integration, HA/DR patterns, and clustering.
  • Exposure to legacy technologies (AIX, Solaris) and understanding of their migration/modernisation constraints.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, automation, monitoring, CI/CD, and operational readiness.

Delivery Skills

  • Proven experience managing end‑to‑end delivery of complex solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in multi‑vendor and large transformation environments.
  • Strong governance, documentation, and communication skills.

Soft Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to navigate complex environments, prioritise effectively, and drive clarity.

 

Solution Architecture & Design

  • Lead the design of end‑to‑end technical solutions spanning infrastructure, networking, applications, data, middleware, and integrations.
  • Develop high‑level and low‑level designs that meet business, security, and operational requirements.
  • Assess current landscapes and define target architectures and migration strategies.

 

Technical Expertise Across Domains

  • Infrastructure: servers, virtualisation, OS, cloud, HA/DR, resilience.
  • Networking: routing, switching, load‑balancing, DNS, DMZ.
  • Application Landscape: multi‑tier apps, APIs, microservices, integration patterns.
  • Storage: SAN/NAS, replication, backup, disaster recovery.
  • Databases: SQL/NoSQL, clustering.
  • Middleware: ESB, messaging, API gateway technologies.
  • Clustering & HA: active‑active, active‑passive, distributed systems.
  • Good to Have: Awareness of legacy technologies such as AIX and Solaris, including their architecture patterns and typical migration considerations.

 

Delivery & Execution Management

  • Provide technical governance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Work with engineering teams to manage risks, dependencies, and architectural compliance.
  • Define and maintain roadmaps, sequencing plans, and architectural standards.
  • Support estimation, capacity planning, and delivery assurance.

 

Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration

  • Translate business requirements into feasible, scalable technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with multi‑vendor engineering teams to ensure alignment with architectural direction.
  • Communicate complex technical matters clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences.
