Associate Consultant, Technology and Systems at Litus Advisory, London Area, £Freelance Rate

Contract Description

Litus Advisory is building a network of associate consultants to work alongside us on engagements with early years operators and PE investors.

What we do

We find and unlock margin in early years groups. Our work spans margin diagnostics, value creation programmes and commercial due diligence for investors. Our clients are PE-backed nursery groups, independent multi-site operators and investors evaluating the sector.

What you would do

Work on client engagements as a named associate, advising operators and investors on technology strategy across early years groups. Typical assignments include evaluating and selecting nursery management systems, designing multi-system architecture across NMS, finance, workforce and safeguarding platforms, leading technology workstreams within commercial due diligence for PE transactions, assessing API capability, data migration risk and vendor lock-in across portfolio companies, and supporting post-acquisition technology integration and rationalisation. Assignments are project-based with defined scope and duration, usually 2 to 12 weeks.

What we are looking for

Significant experience with technology in the early years or childcare sector. You will have built, sold or implemented technology into the sector, or led system selection and digital transformation across a multi-site group. You understand how NMS, finance, workforce and safeguarding systems connect in a nursery operation and can write a technology recommendation that a board or investment committee would act on.

Specifically: experience with nursery management systems (Famly, Connect, Blossom or equivalent), understanding of multi-system architecture across early years operations including API integrations, data migration and interoperability between NMS, finance, workforce and safeguarding platforms, the ability to assess build-versus-buy decisions and vendor suitability for PE-backed groups, familiarity with technology due diligence in M&A transactions, and confidence presenting technical recommendations at board and investment committee level.

Important: how this role works

This is a freelance associate role, not employment. You would join our associate network and be contacted when assignments match your experience. There is no guarantee of work, no minimum hours and no obligation on either side. You are free to decline any assignment offered.

You operate as a self-employed consultant, either through your own limited company or as a sole trader. You invoice Litus for completed work at an agreed day rate. You are responsible for your own tax affairs, including any IR35 determination. Litus is a small company for IR35 purposes, so the assessment responsibility sits with you. You are not an employee, worker or agent of Litus Advisory.

There is no employment contract, no holiday pay, no sick pay and no pension. You should hold your own professional indemnity insurance (or be willing to obtain it). You retain the right to provide a suitably qualified substitute to fulfil an assignment, subject to client approval.

You are welcome to list this engagement on your LinkedIn profile as Associate Consultant at Litus Advisory with the employment type set to Contract.

Day rate: Discussed on a per-assignment basis depending on scope, complexity and your experience.

Location: Remote with travel to client sites as required. Most of our clients operate across southern England.
