Key Essential Skills:
- Experience working in fast-paced, private equity-backed or financial markets environments.
- Proven experience leading large-scale data migration projects within SharePoint/Microsoft 365 environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with SharePoint Online, SharePoint On-Premises, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Experience managing Microsoft 365 security and compliance settings.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data classification, DLP, DRM, encryption, and security best practices.
- Experience designing and executing migration strategies for structured and unstructured data.
- Knowledge of Power BI and enterprise reporting solutions.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Copilot, AI technologies, and Large Language Models (LLMs).
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and project leadership skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with PowerShell administration and automation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Defender and Purview.
- Strong troubleshooting, support, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications in Microsoft 365, Azure, Data Engineering, or SharePoint technologies.
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer (Migration Lead) to lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex data migration programmes across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and enterprise data platforms. The successful candidate will be responsible for migrating business-critical data securely and efficiently while ensuring data integrity, governance, classification, and compliance requirements are maintained throughout the migration life cycle. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, technical teams, and third-party partners within a fast-paced, private equity-backed environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end data migration projects across SharePoint Online, SharePoint On-Premises, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Teams, file shares, and other enterprise data repositories.
- Design and implement migration strategies, methodologies, and roadmaps to support business transformation initiatives.
- Analyse source systems, data structures, permissions, metadata, and content to define migration requirements and approaches.
- Develop and execute data mapping, transformation, validation, and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure data governance, security, compliance, and classification requirements are Embedded throughout migration activities.
- Work closely with infrastructure, security, and business teams to minimise risk and disruption during migration programmes.
- Lead migration testing, cutover planning, user acceptance testing, and post-migration support activities.
- Identify and resolve data quality, integrity, and performance issues throughout the migration life cycle.
- Support the migration and adoption of Microsoft Copilot, AI-enabled tools, and modern workplace technologies where appropriate.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, migration runbooks, risk registers, and project reporting.
