Digital and Technology Transformation Advisor - Social Housing at Project Alix, Remote, Part-Time, £70-£100 per hour

Contract Description

Hours: Light and flexible — typically 3–6 hours per month, sometimes more when we're working through a specific question

Pay: £70 - £100 / hr

Contract: Freelance, ongoing

About us

We're a UK technology company building a remote inspection and triage intelligence service for housing associations, focused on DMC to start. Our platform helps property and repairs teams triage issues, inspect remotely, and make better, faster, better-evidenced decisions. We help meet recent and upcoming statutory regulations.

We're a customer-centric company. Everything we build starts from the resident's experience: faster responses, fairer outcomes, and fewer repeat visits. We're now scaling the platform across the sector, and we want senior transformation leaders helping us get the adoption right.

About the role

We're building a small panel of senior social housing transformation professionals — people leading digital and technology transformation who know what genuine innovation looks like inside a housing association, and what separates change that sticks from change that stalls.

You won't be doing transformation work. You'll be a critical voice at the table: bringing the patterns you've seen across your own experience, challenging our assumptions, and pushing us on where the real opportunities — and real risks — sit. We're after sharp, candid thinking, not endorsement.

Each month typically involves:

  • A 60-minute video session with our team
  • Some async review of plans, designs, or roadmaps we share in advance
  • Candid feedback, usually in writing or on the call

Some months we'll ask for more (a deeper review of a new use case, for instance). Others will be lighter. We'll agree scope at the start of each assignment and we won't let it creep.

What we'll ask you to weigh in on:

  • Where the real innovation opportunities sit in remote inspection and repairs — the problems worth solving versus those that just look shiny
  • Your candid feedback on our approach
  • Designing around the people who use it — frontline teams, contractors and residents — so it improves the holistic experience rather than adding friction
  • Where the sector's heading: how Awaab's Law and the consumer standards are driving change, and what's signal versus hype
  • What genuine digital adoption takes inside an HA — success criteria, scaling, champions, navigating procurement, IT governance, integration with housing management, repairs and asset systems — and why good tools so often stall on the way in

Who we're looking for

Our main emphasis is digital and technology transformation . You'll likely hold, or have recently held, a role such as:

  • Director or Head of Transformation, or Digital Transformation lead, at a UK housing association or local authority
  • Director of Technology, Head of IT, CIO or CTO of a social landlord
  • Head of Business Improvement or Business Change

We're customer-centric, so we'll also gladly hear from customer experience leads, service designers, and continuous-improvement or repairs/asset transformation leaders. The range is welcome — transformation is the through-line.

Above all, we'd like:

  • Several transformation projects on the go right now — you're actively running change, not just advising on it
  • A good while in social housing, and a real feel for how the sector moves
  • Working knowledge of the HA tech stack and the realities of integrating a new platform or capability into it
  • Candid views on what works and what's just hype — current, recent or retired all welcome

Why join

  • Light-touch and flexible — scope agreed in advance, so it fits around other commitments
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • A chance to shape a platform being adopted across UK housing associations — as a respected voice, not a rubber stamp
