Freelance Hybrid Flexible Working
We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Freelance AI Tutor to deliver high-quality, engaging training aligned to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Automation Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard.
This role is ideal for an industry professional with strong commercial experience in AI, automation, data, or digital technologies, combined with proven teaching or training delivery experience. The successful candidate must be capable of equipping apprentices with current industry knowledge, practical technical skills, and professional workplace behaviours relevant to modern AI and automation roles.
Role Overview
You will deliver a blend of practical and theoretical training covering core AI and automation concepts. This includes machine learning fundamentals, data handling, automation technologies, and the ethical and responsible use of AI solutions within business environments.
Training delivery will include:
- Introduction to AI, machine learning, and automation concepts
- Data collection, preparation, and analysis
- Programming fundamentals (e.g., Python) for AI applications
- Use of AI tools and platforms (e.g., APIs, low-code/no-code automation tools)
- Machine learning models and basic model evaluation
- Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and workflow automation
- AI ethics, bias, governance, and data protection
- Business applications of AI and process optimisation
- Problem-solving, critical thinking, and digital workplace behaviours
You will work with small learner cohorts (up to 10 learners), supporting them to develop job-ready technical skills, industry-relevant knowledge, and the professional behaviours required within AI and digital technology roles.
As a freelance tutor, you must complete all delivery preparation in advance. This includes creating a Scheme of Work, lesson plans, and learner activities mapped to the apprenticeship standard. Please note that lesson preparation time is not separately remunerated.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and structured training sessions aligned to the AI & Automation Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard
- Support learners in understanding both theoretical concepts and practical industry applications
- Guide learners through projects, portfolios, and real-world business scenarios
- Provide constructive feedback, coaching, and progress reviews to support learner achievement
- Prepare learners for End-Point Assessment (EPA)
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, learner progress, and achievement
- Adapt delivery methods to meet diverse learner needs and abilities
- Embed current industry practices, trends, and employer expectations into delivery
Essential Requirements
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Significant industry experience within AI, automation, data, software, or related technical fields
- Strong commercial knowledge and hands-on experience of AI technologies and their practical business applications
- Experience working with machine learning concepts, automation tools, and data-driven technologies
- Strong understanding of AI concepts, machine learning fundamentals, and automation platforms
- Experience with programming languages such as Python and relevant data handling libraries
- Familiarity with AI tools, frameworks, or platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn, OpenAI APIs, or similar)
- Knowledge of AI ethics, governance, data protection, and responsible AI practices
- Experience using automation tools such as Power Automate, UiPath, Zapier, or similar RPA technologies
- Previous teaching, tutoring, coaching, or technical training delivery experience
- Experience delivering apprenticeships or vocational training programmes (desirable)
- Excellent communication, coaching, and learner engagement skills
- A recognised teaching qualification and relevant instructional certification (required)
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry qualification (required)
- Experience within apprenticeship delivery and funded education
- Experience supporting learners towards End-Point Assessment (EPA)
- Industry certifications in AI, cloud, automation, or data technologies
- Knowledge of current AI industry trends, tools, and employer requirements
