SAP Basis BTP Devops Engineer
£678.26 per day (Inside IR35)

We are seeking an experienced SAP Basis BTP DevOps Engineer to support and enhance our SAP landscape across on-premise and cloud environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for SAP Basis administration, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) operations, automation, DevOps practices, and cloud integration initiatives.
This role requires strong technical expertise in SAP systems administration, CI/CD automation, cloud-native technologies, and operational support for mission-critical SAP environments.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Basis Administration
- Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain SAP systems including:
- SAP S/4HANA
- SAP ECC
- SAP NetWeaver
- SAP Solution Manager
- SAP HANA databases
- Perform system monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation.
- Manage transports, client copies, kernel upgrades, and system refreshes.
- Support high availability and disaster recovery configurations.
SAP BTP Platform Engineering
- Administer and support SAP BTP subaccounts, global accounts, entitlements, and services.
- Configure and manage:
- SAP Integration Suite
- SAP Cloud Connector
- SAP Identity Authentication Service (IAS)
- SAP Identity Provisioning Service (IPS)
- SAP Build / Extension Suite
- Support hybrid integration between cloud and on-premise SAP landscapes.
- Implement security and governance controls within SAP BTP.
DevOps & Automation
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines for SAP deployments and integrations.
- Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Implement DevOps best practices across SAP delivery teams.
- Work with containerisation and orchestration technologies where applicable.
- Support release management and deployment automation.
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Support SAP workloads hosted on hyperscalers such as:
- Microsoft Azure
- AWS
- Google Cloud Platform
- Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams on cloud architecture and compliance.
- Monitor and optimise system reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
Operational Support
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for SAP platform issues.
- Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
- Ensure system compliance with security and audit requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in SAP Basis administration.
- Hands-on experience with SAP BTP administration and services.
- Experience with SAP HANA database administration.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
- Scripting experience in Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as:
- Jenkins
- GitHub Actions
- GitLab CI/CD
- Azure DevOps
- Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with transport and release automation tools preferred.
- Understanding of networking, certificates, SSO, and SAP security concepts.
Cloud & DevOps Experience
- Experience working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions.
- Familiarity with Agile and DevOps delivery methodologies.
