About us:

BestAtDigital (BAD) is an independent Behaviour Change Agency based in Brighton. We help organisations overcome behavioural challenges and achieve meaningful, sustainable change — for their people, their organisations, and society.

Our innovative solutions are rooted in psychology, technology, data-driven insights, and evidence-based design. We design and build digital tools that help some of the world’s biggest brands communicate complex ideas and influence behaviour at scale. When the right tools don’t exist, we create them.

Our studio is a diverse mix of talented, curious, and thoughtful people. Every one of us is different — and that’s exactly what makes BAD what it is.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Midweight UI Designer to join us on a number of upcoming projects, working in an embedded and agile way alongside intervention designers, developers, and producers. This will be a freelance engagement , with the prospect of supporting future projects once onboarded.

This role sits between Junior and Senior level. You’ll be confident taking ownership of work and delivering at pace, without needing to manage others or set the overall creative strategy.

We’re looking for someone who can bring a fresh perspective , get up to speed quickly, and work efficiently across multiple workstreams — balancing hands‑on production with thoughtful contribution to creative direction.

You must be able to work from home and be confident onboarding into a new way of working and new processes, for which we will of course support you.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Translating behavioural insights, content, and learning objectives into clear, effective visual design
  • Contributing to light art direction and helping maintain consistency across screens, modules, and journeys
  • Working confidently within brand guidelines, design systems, and component libraries
  • Collaborating closely with developers, with a practical understanding of how UI and UX decisions translate into CSS and front‑end constraints
  • Managing and contributing across more than one workstream, staying organised and responsive
  • Giving and receiving constructive feedback as part of a collaborative studio culture
  • Articulating and presenting design decisions clearly to internal stakeholders and clients

About you

You’ll likely have 3–5 years’ experience working in a digital agency, digital learning environment, or similar.

You:

  • Can hit the ground running and manage your own workload with confidence
  • Bring curiosity and fresh thinking to briefs and challenges
  • Are comfortable switching context and priorities across projects
  • Balance strong visual craft with solid UX decision‑making
  • Enjoy collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients

Skills & experience

Essential

  • Experience using Adobe XD or similar tools (Figma, Sketch, etc.)
  • Strong skills across the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Ability to clearly articulate design ideas and rationale
  • Comfortable estimating work effort for budgeting needs

Nice to have

  • Experience working on digital learning, education, or behaviour‑change projects
  • Familiarity with design systems and atomic design principles
