Job Purpose:

 

We are the Cabinet Office’s cyber security team, and our mission is to secure the department against cyber threats. We protect our nationwide internal IT infrastructure, and high-profile citizen-facing digital services such as GOV.UK.

 

As a Business Analyst, your main responsibilities will be: 

  • To act as a crucial bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, focusing on designing, configuring and optimising Jira Service Management (JSM) to improve service delivery.  
  • Collaborate and work closely with different stakeholders to build a deep understanding of existing cyber security business processes and user needs to:
    • Translates into actionable IT Service Management functional and non-functional requirements and user stories
    • Develop, design and document new processes, platform workflows, automation rules and dashboard
  • Understand business and stakeholder requirements through common requirement elicitation techniques
  • Collaborate efficiently with development team(s) and enable them with sufficient understanding to undertake platform configuration
  • Support cyber leads and service delivery manager to form and groom product backlogs, using evidence and data to drive prioritisation and scope
  • Liaise with cyber lead and service delivery manager to support the necessary business change activities required
  • Ensure business requirements are fully understood by external suppliers and work with those suppliers to support delivery through planning, implementation and testing
  • Carry out functional testing or UAT of completed requirements/user stories, ensuring services meet requirements and other internal standards, documenting and managing defects as they arise

 

Essential: 

  • Working in a dynamic, fast paced agile environment, as well as working collaboratively and openly with cross functional teams
  • Working with a broad range of stakeholders to elicit business requirements, model complex business processes and carry out gap analysis against industry best practice
  • Experience of translating and documenting business and user needs into functional and non-functional requirements and user stories
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to bridge communication between technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders
  • Developing and documenting process and workflow diagrams, functional specifications and user guides
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of ITIL frameworks (v3 or v4)
  • Strong experience in facilitating workshops to map AS-IS business processes to TO-Be ITSM processes (Incident, Change, Request, Knowledge Management),
  • Proven experience as a BA, supporting the delivery of ITSM configuration through requirements gathering, stakeholder engagement, documentation, UAT and adoption of change
  • Working with backlog and defect tracking tools such as JIRA or Trello

 

Desirable: 

  • Experience of working as a Business Analyst in Cyber Security
  • An ITIL Foundation Certificate
  • Experience of leveraging an ITSM platform as a requirements management platform
  • Experience of driving standardisation across technical or cyber teams by implementing OOTB functionality from platform tooling
  • Demonstrable experience configuring an ITSM tool such as Jira Service Management (JSM) or ServiceNow
  • Experience of delivering services in a regulated environment, or to a high level of security classification
