Location: Thetford, Norfolk (Hybrid – Some on-site office hours required)

Rate: Competitive Day Rate (Negotiable based on experience)

Role Overview

Are you a tech-savvy problem solver who prefers the freelance life over the 9-to-5 grind? We are looking for a reliable Self-Employed IT Assistant to support our operations in Thetford.

This isn't your standard corporate desk job. We need someone who can jump in, troubleshoot effectively, and keep our systems humming. You’ll have the freedom to manage your own schedule, provided our core IT needs are met and you can be on-site in Thetford when the "magic" (or the Wi-Fi) stops working.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will be varied, but generally includes:

  • On-site Support: Providing hands-on hardware and software support at our Thetford office.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving issues with workstations, printers, and peripheral devices.
  • System Maintenance: Performing routine updates, backups, and security checks.
  • User Assistance: Helping team members with Office 365, email setups, and general "how-do-I-do-this" queries.
  • Network Health: Ensuring our local network remains stable and secure.
  • Inventory Management: Keeping track of hardware and suggesting upgrades when things get vintage.

Requirements & Skills

  • Experience: Proven experience in an IT support or technician role.
  • Tech Stack: Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Microsoft 365, and basic networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • HTML / Javascript / Coding an advantage
  • Some awarenss of Digital Signage operations an advantage
  • Self-Sufficient: As a freelancer, you should be comfortable working independently without a manager hovering over your shoulder.
  • Communication: The ability to explain technical issues to "non-tech" people without using too much jargon.
  • Proximity: You must be able to travel to Thetford, Norfolk for on-site requirements.
  • Compliance: Must be registered as self-employed in the UK and responsible for your own Tax/NI.

Pay: £24,420.00-£27,791.78 per year
