The Role

We're seeking a dedicated Full Stack Web Developer skilled in custom web development with expertise in the ecommerce sector. This role is central to our team, working to advance our online pharmacy platform to ensure it is user-friendly and meets the healthcare needs of our patients.

We're open to full time or part-time candidates for this role based at our welcoming Nottingham office. This position offers a chance to engage in significant healthcare technology projects directly impacting patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the on-going development of our e-commerce platform, adding new features and prioritising security, usability, and efficiency
  • Support the maintenance and advancement of custom PHP applications to guarantee top performance and security
  • Maintain our custom WordPress theme and plugins to align with business goals, enhancing UX and user interaction
  • Apply front-end technologies (JavaScript, Typescript) to enrich the website's interactivity and aesthetic appeal
  • Develop a new platform using Symfony, The API Platform, and JavaScript/TypeScript front-end framework to drive the company’s growing needs
  • Manage and refine MySQL and NoSQL databases to uphold data security and ensure high-performance levels
  • Working with APIs and exploring AI technologies to bring innovative features to our digital offerings
  • Promote an efficient workflow, using development tooling such Docker, Git, and VS Code
  • Collaborate with designers, pharmacists, and the tech team to create user-friendly and secure features, across mobile and desktop devices
  • Integrate with APIs, including NHS login, electronic prescription services (EPS), and in-house patient systems
  • Build notification systems, medication reminders, secure messaging, and repeat prescription requests
  • Ensure app performance, security and compliance with healthcare data privacy standards (GDPR, NHS Digital requirements).
  • Conduct testing and debugging to ensure reliability across devices.

Requirements

  • 3+ years proven experience in professional development in PHP or similar server-side programming language and web frameworks (Symfony or similar)
  • Experience in WordPress and WooCommerce development is required
  • Expertise in MySQL and NoSQL, capable of managing and optimising databases effectively
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript) and UI/UX design principles
  • Knowledge of security best practices and cyber security
  • Experience with local development and source control (such as Git)
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Driven by leveraging technology and modern practices
