The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Programme Lead/Solutions Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership across a high-profile programme for a Scottish public body. This role will shape and govern the end-to-end solution landscape, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, business outcomes and long-term digital strategy. Working closely with senior stakeholders, digital teams and suppliers, you’ll bring a strong blend of strategic thinking, hands-on architecture expertise (particularly in Azure cloud environments) and the ability to influence decision making in a complex delivery setting.

You’ll define and drive the architectural vision, ensuring solutions are coherent, scalable, cost-effective and aligned with organisational priorities. Acting as the programme’s design authority, you’ll oversee solution architecture across business, data, applications and technology, while providing governance and assurance.

The role also involves leading strategic analysis and option development, supporting executive decisions with clear, evidence-based recommendations and ensuring architecture is embedded across delivery, planning and roadmapping.

Key responsibilities:

• Define and lead the end-to-end architecture strategy for a large-scale programme
• Act as design authority, ensuring architectural governance, standards and best practice
• Oversee solution architecture across business processes, data, applications and platforms
• Lead option analysis and present clear recommendations balancing cost, risk and value
• Align architecture with enterprise strategy, capability models and long-term roadmaps
• Ensure effective integration across domains and workstreams
• Provide architectural assurance for delivery teams and third-party suppliers
• Identify and manage risks, dependencies and cross-programme impacts
• Support senior stakeholders with clear architectural insights and decision-making inputs
