Job Description – Junior Web Developer

Location: Office / Hybrid Based

Type: Freelance

Compensation: Competitive depending on experience

Description:

We are looking for a Junior Web Developer to join our team on a freelance basis with the potential of moving to a permanent role. We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn and grow with our company and ethos. You’ll be responsible for working on a wide variety of clients across various sectors under the guidance of our Head of Data, with support from the wider team.

You’ll gain exposure from using a range of modern technologies and coding techniques along with gain experience from using our in-house AI tools to assist with your personal development. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is at the start of their career and wants to gain real experience working on live projects. You’ll be supported by a small, friendly team who are genuinely invested in helping you grow and develop in the role.

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • Basic understanding of fundamental web technologies (HTML, CSS & JavaScript)
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to take on new challenges
  • Strong desire to learn and develop new skills
  • Good problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good communications skills – ability to engage with clients and stakeholders where required
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, varied environment
  • Basic understanding of Git version control

Desirable Skills / Experience (although not required):

  • A strong understanding and experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS & Javascript)
  • Use of Design tools such as Figma, Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Experience with Javascript frameworks (i.e. NextJS, React, Vue or similar)
  • Familiarity using CMS systems such as Wordpress, Wix, etc
  • Understanding of Backend languages such as PHP & Python
  • Interest and understanding of AI tools and how they integrate into the coding lifecycle (e.g. Claude Code or Codex)
  • Experience with responsive and mobile first development principles
  • Command line usage with an interest in infrastructure management
