Product Engineer (Contract) – React / Node / AWS at Crumb., London Area, £Contract Rate

Contract Description

About Crumb

Crumb is building the infrastructure for the independent legal economy.

We believe that by 2030, the majority of lawyers will work independently. The standard for legal delivery has never been higher, but the tools to run an independent practice haven’t kept up.

Crumb provides the operating system for fractional lawyers — helping them manage their practice, understand their work, invoice clients, and connect with new opportunities.

The Role

We’re looking for a Product Engineer (Contract) to help ship core features of the Crumb platform.

You’ll work directly with the founders to build and launch production software quickly. This role is focused on execution — turning product ideas into working systems.

You’ll work across the stack, building real product features used by independent lawyers.

Typical work includes:

  • Building product features end-to-end using React, Node.js, and TypeScript
  • Implementing integrations and webhooks
  • Designing asynchronous workflows (background jobs, queues, scheduled tasks)
  • Deploying and operating services in AWS
  • Iterating quickly based on product feedback

This role suits someone who enjoys shipping quickly, owning systems end-to-end, and working without heavy process or product management layers.

What we're looking for

  • Experience building and shipping production software with React, Node.js, and TypeScript
  • Comfortable owning features across frontend, backend, and infrastructure
  • Experience working with webhooks and third-party integrations
  • Experience building multi-step workflows (queues, background jobs, scheduled tasks)
  • Comfortable deploying and operating services in AWS
  • Strong product intuition and ability to translate ambiguous problems into simple solutions
  • Able to work independently and move quickly

Nice to have

  • Experience building SaaS products
  • Familiarity with AI coding tools
  • Legal tech experience
