About the Role

FastTrack Into Information Technology (FIT) is seeking experienced and motivated Freelance IT Tutors to deliver high-quality digital and technical training across Northern Ireland. This role supports a range of FIT and partner programmes, including the Belfast Met Digital Skills Academy, aimed at equipping learners with practical, employment-focused IT skills.

This is a contract and scope-based engagement, with delivery scheduled on a fixed-term or ad-hoc basis depending on programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The successful tutor will be responsible for delivering engaging, learner-focused training and support, including:

  • Delivering tutor-led classroom training in areas such as:
  • Python programming
  • Data Analytics
  • Canva and digital design tools
  • Basic IT and digital skills
  • Cyber Security fundamentals and CompTIA A+ (where applicable)
  • Preparing lesson plans and customised learning materials tailored to learner needs
  • Delivering structured programmes (e.g. Monday–Friday, 9:30am–3:30pm, depending on project)
  • Supporting learners with assignments, projects, and practical exercises
  • Conducting learner progress assessments at the beginning and end of programmes
  • Maintaining accurate attendance registers and session records
  • Providing regular feedback and progress reports to the Programme Manager
  • Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and professional learning environment at all times

Programme Example (Indicative)

  • Project: Belfast Met Digital Skills Academy
  • Duration: 10 weeks
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30am – 3:30pm
  • Location: FIT Training Centre, Portview Trade Centre, Belfast
  • Delivery Focus: Cyber Security Fundamentals and CompTIA A+ preparation

(Please note: programmes vary in duration, content, and location.)

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering IT or digital skills training to adults
  • Strong knowledge of at least one of the following:
  • Python
  • Data Analytics
  • Canva
  • Basic IT / Digital Skills
  • Excellent communication and classroom facilitation skills
  • Ability to adapt delivery to different learning styles and abilities
  • Willingness and ability to travel across Northern Ireland
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently as a freelance contractor

Desirable

  • Experience delivering Cyber Security or CompTIA A+ training
  • Previous experience working on employability or skills programmes
  • Teaching, training, or coaching qualification

Contract & Payment

  • Freelance / Independent Contractor role
  • Pay rate depending on experience
  • Payment made monthly via bank transfer upon receipt of invoice and timesheet
  • No guaranteed minimum hours; work offered on a project or ad-hoc basis
