We are seeking a highly skilled Events Network Technician to join our team for a high-profile 2-month project. This is not a desk job; you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining mission-critical network infrastructure in demanding outdoor event environments.
The successful candidate will lead the technical setup for a major project, you will work initially in Hampshire preparing and configuring equipment, then then complete a 3-week overseas deployment in Europe. You must be comfortable working with temporary infrastructure (truss, outdoor enclosures, point-to-point links) and ensuring 100% uptime in a live event setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage temporary Wi-Fi and wired networks for large-scale outdoor events.
- Configure and troubleshoot multi-vendor hardware (Meraki, Fortinet, MikroTik, Ubiquiti).
- Install and align long-range wireless backhaul and point-to-point links.
- Ensure network security and redundancy across high-traffic public and production VLANS.
- Provide on-site technical support during live show hours.
Requirements (Essential)
- Technical Stack: Expert-level proficiency across Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, MikroTik, and Ubiquiti. You must be able to navigate and configure these diverse environments seamlessly.
- Mandatory Certification: You must hold a valid CCNA or a professional-level certification in one of the other mentioned vendors (e.g., CCNP, CMNA, NSE 4+, MTCNA).
- Advanced Network Engineering: Proven ability to configure Layer 3 networking, including complex VLAN segmentation, Traffic Prioritisation (QoS), WAN Load Balancing, and Automated Failover (e.g., VRRP, HSRP, or SD-WAN).
- Cyber Security: A security-first mindset with hands-on experience in firewall hardening, VPN tunnels, and threat mitigation within temporary, high-traffic environments.
- Temporary Infrastructure: Extensive experience deploying networks in outdoor environments. Familiarity with IP-rated equipment, point-to-point wireless backhaul, and truss-mounted hardware.
- Travel Readiness: Must hold a valid passport and be eligible for travel in the EU.
