The Role

We are looking to engage a Full Stack Developer on a contract basis to support the delivery of high-quality digital services within the UK public sector. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining robust full-stack applications, working closely with multidisciplinary teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers.

This role requires a hands-on senior developer who is comfortable working across the full software development lifecycle and who understands the standards, security, and delivery expectations of government environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable full stack applications
  • Build and integrate backend services using Java (Kotlin) and Node.js
  • Develop modern, responsive front-end solutions using TypeScript
  • Work with cloud-based infrastructure and services on AWS
  • Design and manage relational databases, primarily PostgreSQL
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical best practices
  • Ensure solutions meet government standards for security, accessibility, and performance Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile delivery environment

Additional Requirements

  • Proven UK government / public sector experience (essential)
  • Must qualify for UK Security Clearance (SC) (essential)
  • Senior-level experience working as a Software Developer (or equivalent title)
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
