About the role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Java Spring boot Lead to work with an Investment Bank in Manchester, tasked with enhancing their core loan operations platform. As a Technical Lead, you will work closely with client Product Owners and Technical Leads to deliver robust, scalable, and client-centric solutions across loan operations.
Responsibilities but not limited to;
- Provide expert technical direction and mentorship to developers, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles for Java Spring Boot Microservices.
- Lead the technical design, architecture, and implementation of new features and enhancements for the platform.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high code quality, performance, and security standards.
- Collaborate closely with the client Product Owner and Technical Lead to understand business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and define clear development tasks.
- Actively contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-quality Java Spring Boot Microservices and Angular front-end components.
Essential Skills: Experience with the following is required:
- Extensive hands-on Java Spring boot experience (7+ years)
- Deep expertise in building and deploying Microservices architectures using Spring Boot
- Experience with relational databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Oracle) and/or NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (e.g. Git) and agile development methodologies
- Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerisation technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes).
Desirable skills:
- Financial Services industry experience, in particular knowledge of loan origination or servicing platforms.
- Familiarity with messaging queues (e.g. Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Experience with testing frameworks and tools (e.g. JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine, Karma).
- Knowledge of performance monitoring and logging tools.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.
Deliverables
- Ensure the day-to-day availability of the service
- Provide production support for both on-prem infrastructure and the application
- Manage and maintain Windows/Linux servers, SQL Server installations, storage, and physical hardware
- Carry out preventive maintenance, upgrades, and patching, including coordination with global teams
