Data Engineer at IT Labs, England, £B2B Contract Rate

Contract Description

At IT Labs, we're looking for a hands-on Data Engineer to join a customer-facing team supporting a deep-tech client operating at the intersection of AI, engineering, and advanced analytics. The client is building internal data capabilities to support rapid growth, focusing on areas such as capacity planning, recruitment, and organizational insights.

In this role, you'll work closely with internal stakeholders to design and deliver data pipelines, models, and dashboards that turn complex datasets into clear, actionable insights. You'll collaborate across teams, bridging technical data work with business understanding, and helping teams make better decisions through data.

This is a highly collaborative role that blends data engineering, analytics, and business analysis. You'll be trusted to work autonomously, engage stakeholders proactively, and help shape how internal data is structured, accessed, and used across the organization.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with internal teams to understand business questions related to recruitment, people planning, and operations.
  • Build and maintain ETL / ELT pipelines integrating data from multiple internal systems.
  • Design and implement data models and warehouse structures.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting layers for internal use.
  • Perform data analysis and reporting to support operational decision-making.
  • Translate business needs into metrics, KPIs, and data structures.
  • Clearly communicate insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure data solutions follow security, access control, and compliance best practices.
  • Challenge assumptions and propose data-driven improvements.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL / ELT pipelines and data integration.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with data modeling.
  • Experience working with data warehouses.
  • Experience using AWS.
  • Experience with BI tools, dashboards, and reporting layers.
  • Strong data analysis skills with the ability to connect data to business context.
  • High level of business acumen.
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders and challenging assumptions constructively.
  • Understanding of data security, access control, and compliance.
  • Availability to work onsite in London 2 -3 days per week.

Nice to Have

  • Background as a Data Analyst or Business Analyst transitioning into Data Engineering.
  • Prior experience with internal company analytics, HR, or recruitment data.
  • Experience working in a hybrid onsite model.

Working conditions:

  • Long-term 12-month contract with possibility for extension.
  • Full-time arrangement (40h per week).
  • Hybrid setup: 2 -3 days onsite in London.
  • Choose your contract: Contract or B2B.
  • PTO provided.
  • A background check will be executed if approved to be hired.
