Senior Software Engineer – Kubernetes Platform Team

Location: London (Cannon Street)

Contract: 6 months

Hours: Full Time

 

About the Role

 

We are recruiting on behalf of Fidelity International for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Kubernetes Platform Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a global organisation that prioritises innovation, resilience, and client-first technology solutions.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Participate in all areas of platform development and operations.
  • Identify challenges, research and propose solutions, and drive them through to production.
  • Take ownership of epics, implement solutions iteratively, and guide technical direction for the platform.
  • Collaborate with product owners, application developers, security, and data teams to refine product vision and maintain a clear backlog.
  • Contribute to enterprise architecture reviews, ensuring engineering quality and compliance.
  • Mentor and guide team members in building robust, scalable solutions.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Strong experience in software engineering best practices (GitOps, DevOps, Clean Code).
  • Hands-on expertise in at least one programming language (Python preferred).
  • Proven experience with distributed systems and integration patterns.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, both on-premises and cloud-based (CIDRs, subnetting, TCP/UDP, firewalls, routing, load balancing, DNS).
  • Proficiency with Linux OS and CLI-based platform management.

 

Required Skills

 

  • Experience building cloud-native solutions in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Operating Kubernetes workloads at enterprise scale.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code deployment (Terraform) via CI/CD pipelines (Concourse, Jenkins, ArgoCD).
  • Bash scripting and automation of Kubernetes components and platform tools.
  • Collaborative mindset, comfortable with pair-programming and mentoring peers.

 

Preferred Skills

 

  • Experience with CNCF projects like Cilium, Kyverno, and Karpenter.
  • Familiarity with multi-cluster Kubernetes environments and self-service developer platforms.
  • Knowledge of Extreme Programming (XP) and Kanban methodologies.
