Apprenticeship Tutor – Digital Learning Designer

Contract: Employed or Freelance
Salary: Negotiable (dependent on experience & contract type)
Location: Remote
Reports to: Apprenticeship Lead

SCCU are seeking an experienced and passionate Apprenticeship Tutor to deliver high-quality training, coaching and assessment for the Digital Learning Designer Level 5 apprenticeship programme.

This role offers flexible working arrangements and can be offered on either an employed or freelance basis.

About the Role

As a Digital Learning Designer Apprenticeship Tutor, you will support apprentices throughout their entire learning journey—from induction and on-programme delivery to preparing them for successful End Point Assessment (EPA).

You will deliver engaging virtual classroom sessions, provide tailored 1:1 coaching, and ensure all learners progress in line with funding, quality and compliance expectations. Working closely with learners, employers, IQAs and EPAOs, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the next generation of digital learning professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching, Coaching & Assessment

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment for the Digital Learning Designer Level 5 apprenticeship.

  • Provide 1:1 coaching and conduct regular progress reviews.

  • Carry out observations, professional discussions and KSB assessments.

  • Prepare apprentices for Gateway and EPA, ensuring evidence meets EPAO standards.

Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate learner records using OneFile or similar platforms.

  • Mark and return work within agreed KPIs, providing meaningful developmental feedback.

  • Complete monthly In-Learning Visit forms and 10-week reviews.

  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted EIF requirements and DfE apprenticeship funding rules.

  • Collaborate with the IQA team to maintain high assessment quality.

Learner & Employer Engagement

  • Build effective relationships with employers to support successful programme delivery.

  • Provide pastoral support and address learner concerns promptly.

  • Assist learners with career progression planning and next steps.

  • Conduct employer/learner review meetings and support visits as required.

Professional Practice

  • Keep up-to-date with funding rules, EPA requirements and sector developments.

  • Participate in standardisation, CPD and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to the creation and enhancement of curriculum materials and resources.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Occupational experience in Digital Learning or Learning Design roles.

  • Experience delivering Digital Learning programmes.

  • Strong track record of supporting apprentices through to successful EPA outcomes.

  • A teaching qualification (AET/PTLLS or above).

  • An assessor qualification (CAVA or equivalent).

  • Strong knowledge of apprenticeship KSBs, OTJ requirements and EPA processes.

  • Experience using virtual delivery platforms and e-portfolio systems.

  • Experience in apprenticeship, FE or workplace learning environments.

Desirable

  • Experience of Ofsted inspections within apprenticeship provision.

  • Coaching or mentoring qualifications.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of learner needs in apprenticeship provision.

  • Excellent curriculum knowledge across digital learning disciplines.

  • Awareness of safeguarding, Prevent and welfare responsibilities.

  • Excellent communication, organisation and administrative skills.

  • Ability to motivate learners and support continuous improvement.

  • Proactive, flexible and confident in managing workload and deadlines.

Performance Expectations

  • Maintain learner progress KPIs.

  • Complete monthly visit forms and 10-week reviews on schedule.

  • Ensure full compliance with DfE funding rules.

  • Achieve high EPA success rates.

  • Maintain strong learner and employer satisfaction.

  • Deliver consistently high-quality teaching aligned with internal and external benchmarks.
