I am on the lookout for an IP Internet and Security Specialist to work within the Fixed Data Services (FDS) department to support the provisioning of Customer core IP & Data products, whilst also providing associated Remote Access, Transmission Build, Layer 1, 2 & 3 Testing and Customer Reporting requirements. The Technical Specialist IP Internet & Security is primarily responsible for the remote configuration and commissioning of customer solutions over the Customer Internet platform and support delivery of Customer's Direct Internet Access (DIA) and Cloud based solutions. Working collaboratively with other Technical Specialists, the jobholder will be required to support the enforcement of quality assurance across operational teams through the development and maintenance of Local Work Instructions and training of the engineering community. Key accountabilities: Configuration of customer solutions over the customer internet & cloud platforms and MSP core networks. Assist with the implementation of new Internet & Cloud based products, systems and processes into the department, whilst ensuring that the internet engineering community are supported in terms of training and mentoring. Assume responsibility for, and oversee special projects within the department Enforce Quality Assurance within the department through the development and maintenance of Local Work Instructions in conjunction with GDA configuration and business process documentation, and ensure that training is carried out. Core competencies, knowledge and experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in the telecommunications field, demonstrating a strong background in data communications with a clear understanding of technologies and systems used, including; Direct Internet, IP Transit, Internet Routing, RIPE database structure and updates. In-depth understanding of; TCP/IP protocols & services (TCP/UDP, IPSec, VoIP, SNMP, DNS, Radius/TACACS+, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, ISIS), Transmission fundamentals In-depth understanding of MPLS VPN fundamentals and their application within a Service Provider environment, including the application of QoS mechanisms Network Governance: To ensure complex and bespoke customer orders adhere to our network standards Must have technical / professional qualifications: HND or equivalent in Computer or Telecommunications Engineering Essential: Valid Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) qualification Preferable: Valid Cisco Certified Professional qualification (CCNP/CCIP/CCDP) This is for a minimum of 12 months with the high possibility of extension, you will be based in Newbury but you will have the option to work from home once settled in.
