About SAP Practice

SAP Practice own and manage HMRC’s SAP estate, that includes SAP ETMP (Enterprise Tax Management Platform) and SAP systems supporting internal HR and Finance.

Job description

Your primary role will be to lead the Project Management of the Digital Core Accelerator (DCA) – a project which aims lay the foundations for HMRC’s move to the S/4HANA application within the Enterprise Tax Management Platform (ETMP). This project is a collaborative exercise with multiple stakeholders / software vendors and will ultimately drive out the roadmap for the transformation of the current ECC6.0 SAP estate to the next generation of technology for HMRC.

As well as this opportunity, you may also be tasked with the project management responsibilities across a number of other technology driven programmes.

You will be responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the project to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. You’ll ensure project governance working with stakeholders to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised. You’ll actively manage risks, issues and dependencies and ensure business readiness for change.

Security Clearance – Depending on placement, SC clearance may be required and offer may be conditional until clearance is obtained.


As a Senior Digital Project Manager you will provide the following:

•Lead digital projects end-to-end ensuring they are delivered at pace to meet stakeholder need

•Manage risks, issues and dependencies to effective resolution

•Establish collaborative working across organisational boundaries and with external partners

•Develop delivery plans for your area, establishing priorities, identifying and resolving conflicts and issues across the wider team.

Other Information: Whilst the role can be conducted remotely, there will be travel and possible overnight stays may be required. The main office is based in Worthing West Sussex and team meetings are held there.

Essential Criteria

The ideal candidate will need the following essential skills and experience:

·Experience of delivering SAP, SAP S/4 HANA related projects

·Proven experience of working effectively with wide range of stakeholders across directorate/business group lines and with external IT partners

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision

·Experience of overseeing risk and issue management

·Experience of monitoring longer term delivery of benefits against business case and ensuring appropriate benefits realisation strategy is in place.

Desirable Criteria

·Qualified PPM Professional: Project/Programme management qualification (PRINCE2, MSP etc)
